We are seeking an experienced Chemical Production Manager that will lead the day-to-day operations of the plant in Brownwood, TX, and provide technical guidance and alignment of operational plans to meet short and long-term goals for safety, quality, and production, while serving as the leader for team leads within prospective departments. Must be willing to travel and stay in Brownwood Monday-Thursday weekly, corporate apartment provided.
Responsible for the overall success of the production operation of the plant including integration with safety, quality, maintenance, shipping & receiving. Develop and execute operational strategies by working with all levels of the organization to assure company goals in safety, quality, productivity, and customer service levels are met. Set/adjust plant priorities and make decisions to meet fast-paced and dynamic business and customer demands, coordinating with other departments and ensuring timely delivery of products. Hiring, training, evaluating, terminating personnel, providing leadership and support to the production team. Establish and manage the Operations schedule – allocating personnel to cover all shifts to ensure production schedule execution. Continuously keep up to date on current organizational and industry knowledge/practices and provide technical guidance for operations, shipping and receiving. Identifying and implementing improvements to production processes to enhance productivity and efficiency, reduce operational cost and optimize cycle times. Collecting and analyzing production data to identify trends, constraints and opportunities for improvements, Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, internal SOP’s and industry best practices. Value safety as a top priority and work closely with the safety department to enhance current safety protocols and procedures, conducting safety inspections and promoting a safe working environment

Qualifications: Industrial/Chemical Plant Management Experience (minimum 5-10 years) is required College degree (Bachelors/Masters) in Engineering/Chemistry preferred Must be willing to travel and stay in Brownwood, TX Monday-Thursday weekly, corporate apartment provided. Demonstrated success in managing change in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment. Familiarity operating in a Class-1 / Div-1 environment and experience with flammable and/or combustible products handling is a key differentiator. The Materials Manager at Gulf Coast Alloy Welding (GCAW) is responsible for ensuring that all materials, components, and sub-services are procured, expedited, and available on time for fabrication projects. This role requires strong drawing interpretation skills to determine material requirements based on fabrication drawings and project specifications.
The Materials Manager will oversee material inquiries, procurement coordination, expediting, and scheduling while working closely with buyers, project managers, and vendors to meet project deadlines. Additionally, they will verify that all materials comply with ASME standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Drawing Interpretation & Material Identification: Review fabrication drawings and determine the required materials, insulation, internals, and coatings. Work with engineering and project teams to clarify material specifications and resolve discrepancies. Ensure materials align with ASME code requirements, client specifications, and fabrication processes. Verify that bills of materials (BOMs) are accurate and reflect actual project needs.
2. Procurement & Material Planning: Establish Order-By Dates to ensure materials are procured on schedule. Initiate and manage material inquiries and send them to the Buyer for processing. Ensure that all required materials (including internals, insulation, L&P’s, vessel/tanks, and other sub-services) are secured before the fabrication start date. Verify material specifications and grades for ASME code compliance.
3. Vendor Coordination & Expediting: Track open purchase orders and expedite materials as needed to meet deadlines. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and favorable terms. Coordinate with suppliers for material certifications, quality documentation, and compliance with ASME standards. Troubleshoot and resolve delays, shortages, or quality issues with vendors and suppliers.
4. Inventory & Scheduling: Monitor on-site inventory levels and ensure stock aligns with project needs. Work closely with Project Managers (PMs) to update and maintain project material schedules. Ensure material deliveries align with the Start of Fabrication (S.O.F.) date. Adjust schedules based on fabrication delays, vendor delays, or changes in project scope.
5. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure material traceability and maintain proper documentation for ASME compliance. Verify Mill Test Reports (MTRs), heat numbers, and other material certifications. Work with QA/QC teams to confirm material integrity and adherence to project requirements. Maintain accurate records of purchases, deliveries, and supplier communications.

Qualifications: Associates or Bachelors degree in a math related field of study OR 3-5 years of experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain in a fabrication, welding, or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with purchasing processes, vendor relations, and expediting. Strong organizational and scheduling skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
