We are looking for an experienced Asphalt Milling Machine Operator with a valid CDL to join our heavy highway civil construction team in Houston, Texas. This position is responsible for operating milling machines to remove asphalt pavement prior to resurfacing. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of machine setup, milling depths, grades, and be capable of safely operating and transporting the equipment.
Job Duties Include:
- Operate asphalt milling machines to remove existing pavement surfaces to specified depths and grades.
- Coordinate with ground personnel to ensure milling accuracy and job safety.
- Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections, daily maintenance and repairs.
- Safely load, transport, and unload milling equipment using CDL-class vehicles.
- Adjust controls to regulate speed, depth, and alignment based on specifications.
- Monitor milling progress to ensure surface quality and correct deficiencies.
- Adhere to safety protocols and job site regulations at all times.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Hourly rate of pay is $22 - $30+ depending on experience.

Requirements:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating asphalt milling machines.
- Understanding of milling equipment operation, safety, and maintenance.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working on TXDOT or municipal roadway projects.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Ability to operate additional paving or support equipment.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- This position is physically demanding and performed primarily in the field at active construction sites. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching throughout the shift. Must have the physical strength and stamina to perform repetitive manual labor and operate heavy machinery in variable site conditions.
- May be required to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and tools weighing up to 100 pounds, often without mechanical assistance. Operators may engage in activities when entering, exiting, or servicing equipment, and must also demonstrate manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to control levers, pedals, and instruments inside the equipment cab. Good visual acuity, hearing, and spatial awareness are essential for safety and effective task execution in busy job sites.
- Work involves prolonged exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, wind, rain, and direct sunlight. The environment may include loud noise, vibrations, moving vehicles, airborne dust, and hazardous materials. The role may also involve work at heights, confined spaces, and uneven or unstable terrain. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, high-visibility vests, and safety-toed boots must be worn at all times on job sites.
- Due to the nature of the work, employees must be capable of maintaining physical and mental focus throughout long shifts and reacting quickly to dynamic, potentially hazardous conditions. Reliable attendance, situational awareness, and strict adherence to safety protocols are essential requirements of the role.
