The Crew Leader is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and safety to a team of crew members performing field maintenance operations. This role also ensures proper equipment and supplies are assigned to the crew for task completion in accordance with the District’s mission to maintain the Infrastructure.
Job Duties: Oversee and direct a crew of field personnel which includes laborers and equipment operators. Delegate work assignments and instructions to crew members in accordance with the Production Supervisor’s instructions for program requirements such as herbicide spraying, channel clearing and debris removal. Work alongside crew members and operate equipment as needed to ensure production goals are met. Ensure site trucks are loaded with the proper supplies and crew members have the proper safety equipment before heading to the work site. Perform job site safety analysis (JSA) and crew safety awareness talks (tailgate meetings) to ensure all crew members are aware of site conditions and potential hazards prior to start of work. Record daily work production by task including completion of work order forms and pictures of work in progress. May perform other duties that can be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Clean and repair all spray equipment and properly store herbicides and supplies. Cut weeds, grass, and brush in, along and around channels, drainage elements and right-of ways using equipment designated for that purpose. Dislodge and remove drifts and debris (trees, limbs, brush, vines, trash and refuse) from channel berms, slopes and bottoms for proper disposal. Drive trash truck to and from job sites, dump sites or landfills. Check and maintain all equipment fluids, perform daily inspection(s) and fuel and wash equipment, as needed. Report necessary replacement or repair of defective equipment to supervisor. May perform other duties that can be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

WSI processes several species of seafood including Pollock, Crab, Pacific Cod, Halibut and Sablefish. Production employees process raw product that is delivered from fishing vessels to sell to customers. Processors can be assigned to various positions within the production department including, but not limited to: butchering, sorting, filleting, and case-up. Processors are also required to participate in plant clean-up, and other duties as assigned.
This position requires the candidate have the ability to perform the physical requirements including; standing in place for long periods of time; repetitive motions using hands, arms, legs, and back; regularly lift and move 50 lbs; frequent rotations and twisting at the waist; frequent climbing and descending of stairs; working long hours in cold/wet environments (12+ hours per day, 7 days a week); and prompt and regular attendance. Overtime is available.
