The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Equipment Operator II.
Reporting to the Crew Leader, the Equipment Operator II is responsible for operating various small engines and moderate to heavy equipment used to maintain clear channels, drainage elements and right of ways in accordance with the District’s mission to maintain the Infrastructure.
Job Duties: Operate trucks and equipment including spray equipment, tractors, chainsaws, 4-wheel drive extreme utility vehicles (XUV) and weed trimmers. Mix herbicide(s) in accordance with manufacturer and District’s formulas and instructions and dispense from truck, tractor, XUV or from backpack. Clean and repair all spray equipment and properly store herbicides and supplies. Cut weeds, grass, and brush in, along and around channels, drainage elements and right-of ways using equipment designated for that purpose. Dislodge and remove drifts and debris (trees, limbs, brush, vines, trash and refuse) from channel berms, slopes and bottoms for proper disposal. Drive trash truck to and from job sites, dump sites or landfills. Check and maintain all equipment fluids, perform daily inspection(s) and fuel and wash equipment, as needed. Report necessary replacement or repair of defective equipment to supervisor. May perform other duties that can be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

We count on our volunteers to help support our efforts, so we can use our funds where they’re most needed — bettering the lives of homeless pets across Houston. We need your help to find homes for the estimated 1 million homeless dogs and cats wandering our city’s streets. Every little bit helps. RPM’s fundraising committee always needs help planning, organizing, and staffing many different events throughout the year. We also need help with various office tasks.
Help transport pets, complete office work, raise money and plan events.
And our dogs and cats are always on the go! We need local drivers to move dogs and cats out of the shelters and take them to the vet, foster homes, or other local transport locations. Volunteer local transporters are so important because that first ride out of the shelter is how a life gets saved. RPM can find something for anyone who wants to help our city’s homeless pets. This includes, but is not limited to, nomex coveralls, a back belt, slickers, rubber boots, a fresh air breathing mask and escape pack, and a hard hat;Work under extreme climate conditions (excessive high heat index of 95+degree Fahrenheit, 98% humidity; and sub-zero weather conditions) relative to geographic location;Exposure to dust (chemical and environmental), fumes (chemical and fluids), exhaust and highly pressurized fluids.
