We are looking for an experienced Asphalt Raker to join our paving crew for heavy highway civil construction projects in the Houston, Texas area. The Asphalt Raker is responsible for spreading, leveling, and smoothing hot mix asphalt on roadways, parking lots, and other surfaces using hand tools. This role is essential to ensuring a high-quality, uniform finish for all paved surfaces.
Job Duties Include: Rake and level hot mix asphalt to achieve proper grade and smoothness. Assist with luting, shoveling, and general placement of asphalt materials. Work alongside the paving machine and roller to ensure consistent surface quality. Maintain tools and ensure work area is clean and safe. Communicate effectively with the paving foreman and other crew members. Follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE at all times. Assist with other tasks related to paving and site preparation as needed. Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned.
Hourly rate of pay is $20 - $22+ depending on experience.

Requirements: Minimum 1 year of experience in asphalt paving or a related role. Familiarity with hand tools used in asphalt work (lutes, rakes, shovels, etc.). Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills: Experience on TXDOT or municipal paving projects. Knowledge of asphalt compaction and surface tolerances. OSHA 10 certification. Ability to operate small paving-related equipment (plate compactor, roller, etc.).
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: This position involves performing physically demanding work on paving crews to spread, level, and smooth asphalt on roadways, parking lots, and other surfaces.
