Preference will be given to candidates with experience in both private law firms and corporate in-house legal departments, and those with knowledge of the retail or meat distribution industry. Licensure in additional U.S. states beyond Texas is a plus.
Key Responsibilities: Advise executive leadership and department heads on legal risks, obligations, and rights across various business areas. Manage labor and employment law matters, including handling disputes, investigations, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as vendor agreements, client contracts, employment agreements, and leases. Negotiate legal fees and service terms with external law firms to manage costs and ensure high-quality legal representation. Represent the company in legal proceedings or coordinate with external counsel when necessary. Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels. Requirements: Degree from an accredited law school. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction and documentation. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Prior experience in litigation is preferred but not mandatory.
