Amigos Meat Distributors has an immediate need to hire a Corporate Lawyer. The Legal Counsel or Corporate Lawyer will serve as the primary legal advisor for Amigos Meat Distributors, overseeing all legal matters including labor and employment law, corporate compliance, contracts, and litigation management. This role requires a true bilingual professional fluent in English and Spanish with significant experience in both corporate and labor law. The Director will ensure legal risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and provide strategic legal guidance to support the company’s business objectives.

 

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in both private law firms and corporate in-house legal departments, and those with knowledge of the retail or meat distribution industry. Licensure in additional U.S. states beyond Texas is a plus.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise executive leadership and department heads on legal risks, obligations, and rights across various business areas.
  • Manage labor and employment law matters, including handling disputes, investigations, and compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as vendor agreements, client contracts, employment agreements, and leases.
  • Negotiate legal fees and service terms with external law firms to manage costs and ensure high-quality legal representation.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings or coordinate with external counsel when necessary.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Develop, review, and implement corporate policies to maintain legal and ethical standards.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks proactively through internal controls and compliance programs.
  • Support business transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Operations to align legal strategy with company goals.
  • Keep informed on legislative changes and industry trends impacting the company.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas
  • Proven experience in corporate law or a related field with a strong understanding of legal administrative processes.
  • Familiarity with tribal law regulations is a Plus!
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Prior experience in litigation is preferred but not mandatory.
