Reporting to the Maintenance Construction Field Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator II is responsible for operating various pieces of medium and small sized construction equipment, small engines, attachments, power tools and hand tools to construct, repair, and perform maintenance to channels and bayous within Harris County.
Essential Functions and Duties: Construct forms, place rebar, pour and finish concrete structures such as culverts, inlets, and manholes. Operates medium and small-sized construction equipment such as excavators, skid o steers, and other machinery for channel and bayou maintenance. Build and repair manholes, inlets, and stormwater infrastructure components. Install corrugated metal pipe outfalls, signage, gates, and bollards. Perform minor erosion control repairs and grading operations on open channels and drainage facilities. Perform sediment removal operations using excavators, including operations on slopes. Clear debris, trees, rocks, and other large obstacles from right-of-way and channel bottoms. Remove selective vegetation and perform de-snagging operations on channels. Flag traffic and act as a spotter for other equipment operators during the ingress and egress of work sites. Inspect County vehicles and equipment for safety. May perform other duties that can be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.
