Department SummaryOur 30-bed MSICU cares for medical and surgical patients ranging from newborn to early adult. The patient population is diverse with a variety of medical and surgical needs. Our newborn population primarily includes patients with congenital diaphragmatic hernia or those needing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) soon after birth. The children and early adults have a variety of diagnoses, including but not limited to acute respiratory distress syndrome, multiple trauma, septic shock, congenital malformations, and liver, lung, and kidney transplantation. Position SummaryThe Inpatient Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship will provide Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants with a broad experience across inpatient medical settings. Clinical practice will be focused in the Renal, End-Stage Renal, Immunology, Endocrine, Adolescent Medicine, GI/Hepatology and Admission Team settings. Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Complex Care ServicesDepartment SummaryNurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to function in the inpatient Complex Care Service (CCS) at Boston Children’s Hospital. CCS is a long-standing and nationally-regarded inpatient service in Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Division of General Pediatrics that serves hospitalized children with medical complexity, who have complex chronic conditions and functional limitations. Common reasons for admission to CCS include infections (aspiration pneumonia, pyelonephritis), chronic condition exacerbations (epilepsy, digestive dysmotility), and post-operative recovery following surgery (baclofen pump placement, gastrostomy, spinal fusion, etc.). This role will provide patient evaluation, assessment, and facilitate care for the patients on the CCS service, and will implement interventions tailored to improve systems for patient care and enhance patient safety for this population. The CCS NP/PA will work collaboratively with supervising physicians, pediatric trainees (residents and fellows), and the entire nursing team to promote optimal clinical care.
