Position Summary
This full-time position involves providing comprehensive care to pediatric and adult patients with complex congenital heart defects, including peri-operative management, intraoperative surgical assistance, and postoperative ICU care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care to congenital cardiac surgical patients
First and second assist in the operating room
Perform bedside surgical procedures including ECPR events
Perform pre-op evaluations, consultations, obtain surgical consents, and provide patient and family education
Conduct daily rounds on ICU patients, participate in multidisciplinary rounds, and collaborate with all services
Develop post-op care plans and prepare patients and families for discharge
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, and educate junior staff and students
- Schedule: 40 hours, 4 10’s (no nights, w/e or on call)
Minimal Qualifications
Education
Experience
Prefer a minimum of 3 years of cardiac surgery operating room and/or critical care experience
Solid medical knowledge base for cardiopulmonary critical care medicine with an interest in congenital cardiac anomalies
Critical thinking skills and adaptability on a busy cardiac surgery service
Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff, and trainees
Licensure/Certifications
Sign-on bonus of $5,000.00 (for individuals who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years).
