Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Complex Care ServicesDepartment SummaryNurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to function in the inpatient Complex Care Service (CCS) at Boston Children’s Hospital. CCS is a long-standing and nationally-regarded inpatient service in Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Division of General Pediatrics that serves hospitalized children with medical complexity, who have complex chronic conditions and functional limitations. Common reasons for admission to CCS include infections (aspiration pneumonia, pyelonephritis), chronic condition exacerbations (epilepsy, digestive dysmotility), and post-operative recovery following surgery (baclofen pump placement, gastrostomy, spinal fusion, etc.). This role will provide patient evaluation, assessment, and facilitate care for the patients on the CCS service, and will implement interventions tailored to improve systems for patient care and enhance patient safety for this population. This Clinical Quality Nurse will be responsible for: Focusing on improving healthcare quality and patient safety by monitoring patient care processesCollaborating with multidisciplinary team (physicians, dietitians, social workers, nurses, child life specialists) to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance outcomes.Collecting, analyzing and presenting clinical data to meet CMS regulatory requirements for QAPI (Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement) for the Dialysis ProgramPreparing and presenting Dialysis QAPI data for bimonthly meetings to Dialysis Governing Body.Maintaining meeting minutes of QAPI meetings and follow up of implementation of improvement initiatives.Collecting, analyzing and present clinical data to monitor for hospital acquired conditions (HAC) related to the Vascular Access Service, specifically Peripheral IV Infiltration and Extravasation (PIVIE)Performing chart reviewsPatient assessment of PIVIEWorking Monday - Friday, days, 8:30-5.To qualify you must have:BSN degree and MA RN License.At least 2 years of Inpatient nursing experience required.Microsoft excel experience and ability to use statistical data programs.Interest in healthcare quality improvement and interest in using data to understand and improve patient outcomes.

Position Summary:This Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)/Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) role is an indirect/direct care role. The CNS/APN is a key member of the programs nursing leadership team, responsible for advancing clinical practice.Key Responsibilities:Provides expert consultation for patient/populations with complex health care needs, evaluating the impact of nursing interventions on patient outcomes evidence based practiceIntegrating knowledge, research findings, and experience to support the incorporation of evidence-based practice into excellent bedside nursing care.Initiates clinical inquiry, evidence-based practice and facilitates nursing research.Advances nursing practice by participation in professional organizations, publications and dissemination.Coordinates care and transitions in collaboration with the patient/population and inter-professional team members.Facilitates resolution of ethical conflicts in complex patient care situations.Supports an accountable nursing care environment that stimulates continuous self-learning, reflective practice and invites peer feedback to improve nursing practice.Demonstrates advanced interpersonal and communication skills, employs conflict management and negotiation skills to support a healthy work environment.Providing care to infants, children, and young adults with both acute and chronic diseases in medicine and behavioral health. Common populations include complex care, gastroenterology, pulmonary, endocrine, and behavioral health.Working primarily Monday-Friday day shift with some schedule flexibility needed to meet off-shift practice and educational needs of staff.Minimum QualificationsEducation:Master’s degree in Nursing.Experience:A minimum of 5 years of recent inpatient pediatric nursing experience.
