Job Description:Saab Inc., Autonomous and Undersea Systems division is seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to support our growing team working on Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). This position spans many Electrical Engineering topics and is the perfect position for anyone looking at a wide array of design challenges. Our AUVs, UUVs, and ROVs span AC power (shore and charging equipment), DC power (battery systems and conversion), sensor integration, and electromechanical (propulsion, motors, servos, actuators) integration. This is a hands-on position with the chance to build, test, and integrate the designs you work on. This position will be remote or hybrid to start, but will ultimately be based out of our new Bristol, RI facility that is opening in early 2026.An Electrical Engineering position for anyone interested in leading, designing, developing, and/or modifying AC, DC, linear, analog, digital, acoustic, or sensor designs in subsea applications. This person will lead design approaches and parameters. They will analyze operating data, develop and conduct tests, and draw conclusions or make design decisions based on results. They will be responsible for selecting components and equipment based on requirements, specifications, and reliability. Duties & Responsibilities:Acts as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, product teams, and development teams, providing recommendations and influencing decision-making processes for IT solutions and value stream optimization. Collaborates with Enterprise Architects to align solution architecture with enterprise architecture standards and vision. Responsible for developing and reviewing the solution architecture (blueprint) for products and value stream, including interaction requirements for specific components, subsystems, and interfaces within the application or solution. Designs future-proof and scalable solutions, considering all hardware, infrastructure, and data constraints. Drives simplicity in IT solution design by re-using assets; degree of asset re-use across the enterprise. Aligns with cross functional areas to ensure the user story or product backlog item meets a set of team-established criteria as to whether the story is ready for a sprint. Contributes to the creation of IT/Architecture standards and guidelines to define the overall solution architecture. Creates Technical Design documents, technical specifications, production supporting documents, implementation plans, test plans and test cases. Responsible for identifying non-functional requirements to ensure the architectural design meets the required performance, security, scalability, availability, and other quality attributes.
