Position Summary: To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and stewardship of the Post Retail operations, security of corporate assets through donor and customer relations, processing donated goods, and quality control in order to maximize profitability. The Material Handler is responsible for assisting in processing of post retail goods and keeping equipment emptied for the transportation flow. Also, is responsible for providing world-class customer service, maintaining work place and work area safe with cleanliness and orderliness. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Demonstrates Goodwill Houston’s Core Values in all actions. Ensures adherence to Guiding Principles and CARF standards. Ensures alignment and consistency of all aspects of Salvage operations to include SOPs, Reference Guides, job descriptions, performance evaluations, observation checklists, production standards, GoodwillU training, Safety Program, and others documents related to DGR systems. Greets internal and external customers in a prompt, friendly, and courteous manner; assist customers with prices, location, and information on merchandise, ensuring 100% customer delight. Assist with quality control assurance ensuring there is no safety hazards in the boats. Responsible for any cleaning as assigned. Adheres to all GWH and personnel policies and procedures; follow good safety practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Salvage Manager. When applicable and as assigned, operates baler and other assigned equipment in a safe manner in accordance with organizational and safety policies and procedures. Processes salvage efficiently based on company needs and adapts to changes in commodities processing as assigned. When applicable and as assigned, bales salvageable merchandise, identify and demonstrate understanding of items that can be baled together or items that cannot be baled but should be processed separately. When applicable and as assigned, maintains accurate bale count with production equivalent to 8-10 bales per 8-hour shift, averaging over 1 bale per hour. Adhere to GWH’s Safety Standards while operating the baler and while on duty as assigned. Assist in efficient movement of goods in the warehouse to and from storage or production areas, and in the loading and unloading of trucks with general merchandise and donated goods with the aid of material handling equipment as needed. Learns to operate assigned material handling equipment in a safe and prudent manner under general supervision, in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas, organizational and safety policies and procedures. Responsible to assist guiding the movement of vehicles and/or material movement equipment in a safe manner and acts as a spotter. Use of safe work procedures and personal protective equipment as required. (i.e. lifting, use of proper equipment, etc.). Reports incidents and injuries in a timely manner to the immediate supervisor. Ensures that all items are processed accurately and that all saleable merchandise always makes it to the sales floor. Establishes and maintains a cooperative, functional work relationship with team leader and all team members. Follows all GWH Guiding Principles and Core Values. Attend in-service and related training as assigned by the Salvage Manager. Fosters, builds, and embodies the culture of DGR and Goodwill Houston. Performs other duties as assigned by team leader.

Stocker - Aisle Shift: First / Day Second / Afternoon

Position Summary: Responsible for providing prompt and courteous customer service, stocking products on shelves, and maintaining aisles clean. Essential Functions: Provides prompt, courteous and friendly customer service. Removes boxes from pallets and places them on shelves as well as opens boxes and removes single items to re-stock shelves Rotates merchandise in order to make sure the product does not expire on shelves. Organizes and front faces items on shelves Perform the proper inspections to meet HACCP regulations Assists in the review inventory for product rotation on a daily basis to prevent shrinkage and damages. Ensures that shelf pricing is correct and reflects the most recent pricing and market conditions. Follows program to maintain the cleanliness of the area by a regular maintenance schedule of scrubbing, and pulling out pallets and cleaning underneath. Continuously reviews status of floor for safety hazards. Promptly and safely handles any spills and removes any trash such as plastic wrap, plastic ties, pieces of wood or any other trash gets immediately removed from the floor and discarded appropriately. Promptly informs supervisors of any low stock/out of stock merchandise.

Position Summary: Responsible for receiving product and ensures that aisles/freezers and refrigerators are stocked, labeled, clean and delivered product is packed out, and proper customer service is provided. Essential Functions: Ensure proper customer service and works to develop relationships with large customers. Supervises all activities in the Seafood Department including product placement, rotation, signage, and displays. Is responsible for overall department appearance, cleanliness, and adherence to both government and corporate ordinances. Must maintain records as required. In the role of Seafood Manager, he/she will oversee the Assistant Seafood Manager (if applicable), Seafood Supervisors (if applicable) and Stockers to assure that the Seafood Department is operating in a manner that adheres to company standards. Develops schedules, monitors performance and recommends the proper discipline as appropriate. Ensures that employees are performing the proper inspections to meet HACCP regulations as well as conducting periodic HACCP audits. Supervises the ordering of seafood products from vendors on a regular basis to assure we have competitive pricing and minimal shrink due to spoilage and not have too much inventory on hand. Makes sure all the employees in the department can work the equipment such as Toledo scale and Dennison label machine. Coordinates that the pallets stored in the racks have the proper block and date tags. Follows program to maintain the cleanliness of the area by a regular maintenance schedule of scrubbing, and pulling out pallets and cleaning underneath. Insures that excess inventory not slotted on floor is stacked in overhead racks in close proximity to where it is sold or stored in freezers/refrigerators. Assures that trash is removed from floor and properly handled. Makes sure that low stock/out of stock information is communicated to the Inventory Controller after carefully checking the system and rack for product. Maintains that all signage is correct and that the flyers prices are reflected on the product. Coordinates proper merchandising of aisles (logical adjacencies, proper holding power, space allocation) and creatively merchandises and sets up impulse areas for merchandising. Performs additional duties, responsibilities and projects as assigned. Performs weekly self audits of the Seafood Department.

Gulf Winds International, Inc. was founded in April 1996. The idea was to develop a full service, third party logistics company that would focus on warehousing, land transportation, distribution and consolidation.
