The FBFK team brings deep legal expertise to the convenient Greenway Plaza area of Houston, with five lauded partners driving the day-to-day efforts of the firm, supported by a team of associates, paralegals and administrative staff. 

Our Partners:

Robert Lord (Intellectual Property) – the first partner in both the Houston and Silicon Valley offices, Lord leads the firm’s prosecution practice and manages more than 3,000 active IP matters for numerous medium-to-large companies. His extensive technology experience and computer programming background combined with almost 20 years of patent prosecution experience supports his legal work with some of the world’s largest technology companies – including Oracle, Schlumberger,  Boeing, Intuitive Surgical, and Intuit—the makers of TurboTax® and QuickBooks®. A long-standing member of the Texas Bar College, Lord is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property law worldwide. He is also the current Mayor of Bunker Hill Village, Texas. 

Richard Spencer (Real Estate) - a 10-year The Best Lawyers in America© honoree, AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and triple-board certified, Spencer is a recognized leader in real estate law in Texas. He has served as an expert witness, a litigation consultant and successfully drafted and helped pass new real estate statutes before the Texas Legislature. Spencer is a Fellow in the American College of Real Estate Attorneys, was Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Texas College of Real Estate Attorneys and the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar, a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a well-recognized Course Director of advanced courses in real estate law.

Kenneth Holt (Business & Civil Litigation) – a seasoned litigator, Holt practice focuses on commercial, employment, insurance and professional liability law having represented both plaintiffs and defendants for nearly 30 years. He has successfully tried a multitude of cases ranging from one-day bench trials to multi-week jury trials. Holt has extensive expertise in breach of contract/fraud, employment/non-competition, business disputes, insurance, professional negligence, and business transactions. He has been recognized several times by H Texas Magazine as a “Top Lawyer in Houston” and also is an active member of the Houston Bar Association.

Mark Zeidman (Corporate & Employment Law) – as Chair of the firm’s Employment Law group, Zeidman leads a team of attorneys providing counsel to business management and in-house legal counsel on employment issues and workplace disputes. A Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Association and AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, he regularly represents businesses in both state and federal courts, as well as before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Texas Workforce Commission. Zeidman has years or experience representing businesses in the IT and construction industries, offering both business transactions and trial skills to large and medium size businesses.

J. W. Beverly (Appellate Law) – board certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Beverly brings to FBFK deep appellate law experience and an extensive list of successfully argued appeals in Texas courts, in the Federal Circuit and Fifth Circuit U.S. Courts of Appeals. He also has a 30-year trial practice focusing on commercial disputes, construction, real estate, oil and gas, insurance claims, employment and defrauded investors. Beverly also represents local churches in various matters.  Beverly is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer. 

According to Spencer, in addition to FBFK’s longstanding legal work within the Houston business community, every partner is committed to giving back to the larger community. He personally serves as Chairman of the Board of the Hay Center Foundation – an organization he is deeply involved with and has provided pro-bono legal counsel to for years.
