Apply Today!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing all established ultrasound procedures. Considers age-related factors in care, treatment, education and evaluation of patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics. Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures. Perform procedures safely and observes universal precautions at all times. Pursues professional development for the continual improvement of patient care. Performs related work as required.Utilizes appropriate resources to complete assignment within allocated time period.Adapts to changes in volume/acuity demands. Keeps hallways clutter free and rooms neat.Utilizes standard precautions by wearing protective equipment (goggles, gowns, gloves and uses correct handwashing techniques).Consistently strives to improve performance.Makes suggestions for improvement.Is receptive to new ideas.Is cognizant of age specific, cultural and physical needs of customer in providing service.Maintains confidentiality of all patient/other information.Gives accurate and concise reports.Keeps the Department Director informed on reportable situations and department needs.Interacts with patients, doctors and visitors with grace and tact.Gains patient/family confidence.Attends and participates in staff meetings or reads minutes.Participates in unit/department orientation/preceptorships.Accepts responsibility for assessment of self-learning needs and identifies resources to accomplish continued personal and professional development.Actively participates in hospital and department committees as assigned.Attends all mandatory in-services annually.Makes independent decisions.Requires minimum supervision.Displays professional pride.Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct.Conduct reflects HCA’s values and a commitment to the Code of Conduct.Performs all ultrasound procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manuals and complying with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.Communicates to the patient the nature of the procedure and answers questions clarifying the procedure for the patient.Demonstrates practical application of age-related factors.Assures patients' rights and privacy are maintained.Reports any significant problems related to patient, physicians, ultrasound procedures, housekeeping, maintenance, supplies, or personnel to Technical Director.Responsible for proper documentation and maintenance of all required department records.Perform diagnostic abdominal ultrasound studies in 45 minutes or less.Perform miscellaneous diagnostic ultrasound (i.e. thyroid, carotids) in 30 minutes of less.Perform diagnostic renal ultrasonography in one hour 30 minutes of less.Perform limited abdominal ultrasonography (i.e., gall bladder, aorta, renal) in 30 minutes of less.Responsible for refurbishing supplies in treatment rooms.Perform all quality control as required.Wears appropriate exposure-monitoring devices at all times when in the radiology department.Assist in the transporting of patients.Upon leaving the department, ensures all equipment is properly shut off.Other duties as assigned.What qualifications you will need:EducationGraduate of program in Ultrasound Technology approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or documented equivalent education, experience, and training.LicensureRegistered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (preferred) or completion of registry within one year of employment.CertificationBLS Certification through American Red Cross (AHA and military certifications accepted) required upon hire.ExperienceAbility to perform Ultrasound procedures following accepted standards and protocols.StoneSprings Hospital Center has provided quality healthcare services since 2015.
