Overview: Seeking an intermediate MSSQL Database Administrator for third-shift, full time, remote work (onsite meetings may be required) (M-F, 11:30 PM EST – 8:00 AM EST) working for Government CIO and the VA’s Network Operations Center (NOC), Remote Access and Solutions Integration (RASI) Team. Although the position is remote, candidate must be able to travel to the VA’s Network Operations Center (NOC) in Martinsburg, WV occasionally. Responsibilities: Install, configure, harden, patch, upgrade, and administer development, user acceptance, and production MSSQL 2019/2022 SQL instances.Performance monitoring and tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, database backup and recovery, and query optimization/tuning.Configure and maintain SQL Agent jobs and SSIS packages.Create/maintain SQL logins, database users, and associated permissions.Create and modify stored procedures, triggers, and policies.Prepare Power Shell scripts to automate SQL administration tasks.Harden SQL instances per DISA/FISMA/Government Best Practices Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).Implement Transparent Data Encryption and Secure Socket Layer Encryption within MSSQL.Create/Update SOPs and system documentation.Willingness to provide 24x7 on-call support one week out of every five weeks.Required Skills:Experience Installing, configuring, hardening, patching, upgrading, and administering MSSQL 2019/2022 SQL instances.Experience with MSSQL backup and recovery, troubleshooting, performance monitoring/tuning, and administration.Experience writing and optimizing TSQL.Experience configuring Transparent Data Encryption within MSSQL.Experience with creating and debugging Power Shell scripts used for database administration.Experience creating, deploying, and debugging Integration Services packages.Experience hardening MSSQL, specifically interpreting and implementing DISA/FISMA/Government Best Practices Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).Possess good communication and writing skills.Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.Motivated, responsible, self-starter with a high degree of attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
