Ensure inventory is rotated, expired stock is appropriately disposed of and orders are placed in a timely manner.Provide support and serve as a resource for nurses, physicians and other health care providers medication information and education.Collaborate with leadership to ensure policies and procedures are reviewed and makes recommendations for improvement.Actively assesses the security of medication areas and the compliance of personnel with established policies, procedures, state and federal laws including record keeping. Maintains established procedures for quality control and disposal of unusable medications and hazardous waste. Issue controlled substances and maintains records as required by law, pharmacy policies and procedures. Reviews controlled substances records for discrepancies/errors and reports discrepancies to appropriate authority(s).Operate cash register, including end of day check out, with minimal shortage/overages. Ensures all insurance claims are processed according to policy and procedures. Confirms accuracy of prescription billing, days’ supply, quantity, MME, source and DAW to avoid audit charge backs and ensure compliance with Fraud Waste and Abuse (FWA) Laws.Contributes to zero medication errors with injury by completion of Near Miss and Occurrence reports.
