Role Summary: The Revenue Optimization Manager is the lead subject matter expert in strategy, competitive intelligence, modeling, and research in their revenue domain at Alaska Air Group (AAG) and performs a wide range of financial and analytical leadership work supporting the company. As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy and is responsible for finding opportunities for the company to increase revenues by influencing strategy and maintaining performance accountability across many teams throughout the Commercial and Finance Divisions and exercises considerable latitude and initiative to solve problems and make decisions to improve revenue planning, forecasting, modeling, research, accountability, and performance with statistical modeling and research, optimization, development and delivery of ML/AI models, project management, and solution design/delivery. Key Duties: Acts as a strategy, data, and business information subject matter expert in the development of long-term plans and solutions for leadership, planning, and revenue data.Translates strategy into advanced plans, then analytical experiments, models, and measurements to drive performance and align revenue outcomes with the company's strategic goals.Develops and deploys econometrics, financial, and machine learning models to drive business decisions, create accountability, and create value for Alaska Airlines. Creates detailed action plans, key performance indicators, and progress metrics.Owns monthly cadence output, including market and product profitability / revenue variance-to-budget reporting and root-cause analysis, revenue forecasting, and estimating the opportunity / determining the measurement for strategic initiatives to guide C-level prioritization.Exercises considerable latitude and initiative to solve for continuous improvement processes through data-driven analysis, reporting, tools, and goal setting to drive incremental improvement for key areas.Investigates and combines new and disparate large-scale data sources to extend the data-driven business process.Advocates for, develops, and implements systems and technology that enable leaders and system practitioners to take strategic action in a dynamic, competitive environment.Develops, maintains, and owns performance of automated systems to perform strategic activities. Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills: Required7 years of experience in applied mathematics, data science, operations research, econometrics, economics, or related area.Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an additional 2 years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.Extensive experience in revenue modeling as well as at least two of the following areas of technical expertise: data science, operations research, statistics, econometrics, digital experimentation, enterprise strategy consulting or managerial accounting.Management-level professional experience, including 5+ years in at least one or more of the above domain areas.High proficiency with modern office software as well as SQL and Python.Strong communication skills, with an ability to build strong relationships across teams in the midst of intentional tension as well as the ability to explain complex concepts to audiences of any organizational level, including executive management.A self-starter with a bias for action, organized and able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.Strong experience in data mining, cleaning, manipulation, and preparation.Comfortable in Python, with 1+ year experience working with Pandas, Numpy, and ML toolkits such as SciKit Learn, XGBoost, PyTorch, and Tensorflow.Advanced skills in SQL.Demonstrated expertise in data storytelling and visualization techniques; experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.Experience in developing optimization/simulation models.Strong knowledge of descriptive and diagnostic statistics (including Bayesian stats), sampling methodology, residuals analysis / ANOVA, hypothesis / significance testing, and experimental design.Modeling proficiency in unsupervised and supervised machine learning, such as linear and logistic regression, KNN, cluster analysis, and Neural networks.Demonstrated experience directing and leading team projects and project management.Adept at communications and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to work well with many diverse teams.Data-driven mindset and a proven history of continuous self-development.Tenacious, resilient, optimistic, open-minded, curious, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.A laser focus on driving outcomes.High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum age of 18.Must be authorized to work in the U.S.PreferredGraduate degree in a relevant field.Experience in commercial aviation or other complex logistics and revenue optimization.Consulting experience. Salary Range: $138,500 - $207,750 / year Salary Details: Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
