Role Summary: The Principal Product Manager is a lead subject matter expert responsible for crafting the vision and backlog(s) for an assigned product area. As an individual contributor, this role presents options for the long-term strategy for a product portfolio to key stakeholders and exercises considerable latitude and initiative to solve complex problems. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, designers, and engineers to design, implement, test, and refine functionality for digital experiences. The Principal Product Manager also acts as a mentor to teammates and provides thought leadership for Alaska Air Group (AAG). Key Duties: Responsible for the creation, communicates, and regularly updates a vision and direction for their product portfolio.Responsible for the creation, decisions, and maintenance of a value-based prioritized backlog of opportunities for products which align to Alaska’s business strategy and goals.Responsible for the creation, communication, and maintenance of strategic roadmaps to ensure visibility and transparency of work planned.Use product discovery techniques to move from idea to prototype.Accountable for the creation of user stories and acceptance criteria.Utilize story mapping techniques to inform the creation of release plans, with a strong bias towards incremental delivery and iteration.Partner with the UX Design & Engineering teams to provide guidance and prioritization during the product development process and participate in user research and product discovery activitiesExercise considerable judgment to make key tradeoff decisions.Engage in constructive conversations with - and deliver tough messages when needed - to key stakeholders, including senior executives, while continually building professional and productive relationships.Coordinates new & changed functionality with affected groups to ensure seamless rollout of new capabilities.Interacts with external vendors in design, delivery and support of software and hardware products.Develops and reports on key product development metrics and builds ability to track and measure into offerings.Provides day to day support of the portfolio of applications and products including managing support inquiries, responding to user feedback, creating communications, triaging reported system issues and identifying timeline for resolution as part of Agile Delivery Sprint processes, etc.Builds and establishes partnerships with external vendors and partners to achieve outcomes to support the operation and product(s). Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills: Required7 years of experience in product management and/or technology.Bachelor’s degree with a focus in a related discipline, or an additional two years of training/experience in lieu of this degree.Proficiency with product management methodologies (including user research and product discovery).Excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical customers, colleagues, and executives.Ability to facilitate user group meetings with stakeholders and drive agenda for a common solution.Proficiency with AGILE/SCRUM software development methodology.Demonstrated knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC).Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management cross-divisionally.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with increased complexity.Demonstrated ability to manage conflict.High school diploma or equivalent is required.Minimum age of 18.Must be authorized to work in the U.S.PreferredPrior product management experience with a team developing mobile applications for iOS devicesPrior airline industry experienceExperience managing vendor relationships Job-Specific Leadership Expectations: Embody our values to own safety, do the right thing, be caring and kind, and deliver performance. Salary Range: $138,500 - $207,750 / year Salary Details: Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
