Help to conduct and interpret laboratory test results and help to interpret results. Call patients with abnormal results and treatment plans in a timely fashion. Educate and inform patients of the best disease prevention and control methods. Work with doctors and other departments whenever a patient is undergoing surgery. Monitor/manage, screen telephone requests for assistance by urgency of the existing patient base. Assist providers in refilling chronic medications per protocols. Interview and assess patients for medical interventions in the office and on the telephone. Initiate medical interventions based on a symptom-focused protocol or guideline. Advise and give professional and moral support to patients suffering from heart conditions, who may not understand the steps to take to manage their conditions. Educate and monitor patient compliance regarding medical interventions. Monitor the psychosocial and emotional needs of patients for outside referrals and additional care. Assist the physician with the medication management of the existing patients. Support medical assistants, perform quality improvement audits and tasks within the clinic. Assist in the pursuit of specialty drugs and/or prior authorizations on behalf of the patient. Manage specialty drug requisites including patient interviews, record keeping and reporting.
