Responsibilities: JOB SUMMARYThe Start-Up Technician, Installation is responsible for start-up of supermarket refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment to ensure customer needs are met efficiently, accurately and on-time as well as assists with Energy Optimization (EO) projects. The ideal candidate should know advanced solid-state controls; oil systems safety controls; mechanical sub-cooling; introduction to head pressure controls for energy reduction; introduction to energy management systems (EMS); refrigeration rack oil systems; advanced de-frost diagnosis; and single and parallel compressor system start-up in a supermarket environment. Technician must carry the skillset up of a Journeyman level which includes construction experience in performing installation of refrigeration systems including electrical, plumbing and fixtures. Technician will function as the subject matter expert for process, procedures, and projects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Performs evacuations of parallel racks after verifying pressure tests.· Performs all EMS wiring and programming for all manufactures of EMS systems.· Performs full start-up of new parallel refrigeration systems and individual systems.· Leads small projects such as single case and condenser change outs.· Assists with EO projects which would include retro-commissioning of supermarkets for system performance or utility programs, EMS upgrades, leak detection upgrades, gas conversion projects.· Works with local branch Service and Construction Managers between projects to assist in problematic stores, training for junior technicians and foreman, or other areas as needed.· Embodies the CoolSys CARES culture (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Empowerment, Safety).· Performs other duties as assigned.- Able to work out of town and some weekends Qualifications: JOB REQUIREMENTSEducation / Training· High school diploma, GED, or completion from trade program or technical school, required.· 3+ years of supermarket EMS systems.· EMS Certification, preferred.· Environmental Protection Agency Certification I and II, required.Work Experience / Skills· 8+ years work experience in commercial HVAC, refrigeration.· Experience with parallel rack systems.· Expert knowledge of refrigeration, ice machines, and electrical systems.· Expert knowledge of single systems, parallel racks systems, display cases and walk-ins.· Ability to efficiently troubleshoot commercial and supermarket refrigeration equipment.· Expert knowledge of EMS systems in supermarket applications for wiring and programming (CPC, Novar, Danfoss).· Strong mechanical aptitude.· Good communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with the customers, management, crew, and team.· Knowledge of and ability to read blueprints on refrigeration, electrical and plumbing.· Ability to multi-task effectively.· Good driving record.· Valid driver’s license required at all times.· Travel, overnight, and overtime work as needed.· Ability to organize and prioritize your own work schedule and the work schedules of others on short-term basis.· Experience and proficient knowledge of supermarket refrigeration.· Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.· Ability to use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, etc.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTThe physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Mechanical rooms can have elevated noise levels. The position regularly works near/with refrigeration/HVAC equipment that can expose the workers to extreme cold from refrigerant and high heat from brazing operations. This role routinely works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. These conditions require employees to use the correct PPE and safe work practices.Physical DemandsThis position is very active and requires excellent stamina to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Employees are regularly required to walk and stand for long periods, hear, drive, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, use hands and fingers, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
