Overview: The Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead analyzes human samples, such as blood, tissue, and body fluids, to determine chemical content, cell count, drug levels, blood type, and the presence of microorganisms. This role is responsible for utilizing automated equipment and specialized instrumentation to prepare samples and perform multiple complex tests that provide valuable information on diseases. This role also guides less experienced team members through training, onboarding and answering questions. Responsibilities: Ensures accurate and timely analysis of specimens using various laboratory techniques to ensure positive specimen identification while maintaining proper documentations. Performs testing of laboratory specimens (pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical) according to established laboratory policies and procedures. Collaborates with laboratory management to develop and update standard operating procedures to ensure adherence to best practices and continuous improvement in specimen processing. Monitors and troubleshoots equipment and testing processes, promptly addressing technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain reliable laboratory operations. Supports the training and onboarding of new technologists to facilitate their integration into the team and ensuring consistent competency evaluations to uphold high standards of performance.Performs other duties as assigned. Overview: The Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for performing, analyzing, and releasing laboratory tests on specimens to ensure accurate and reliable results by adhering to established policies and procedures. Working under direct supervision, this role is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining complex instrumentation, prioritizing workload to meet turnaround times, and staying updated on competencies and regulatory standards. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II plays a crucial role in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic information that supports patient care and treatment decisions.This position requires at least 16hrs per pay period (every two weeks). Responsibilities: Performs all processes associated with testing of laboratory specimens, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.Conducts quality control and assurance activities to maintain accuracy in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.Maintains and troubleshoots complex instrumentation and test systems, documenting corrective actions prior to releasing testing results to contribute to reliable test outcomes.Prioritizes duties and manages workload to meet established laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions.Stays updated on annual competencies, continuing education assignments, and regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with safety and compliance policies and procedures.Practices efficient use of supplies and actively participate in inventory control to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.Performs other duties as assigned.
