Position Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION:WinStar World CasinoPrepares food to be served in the restaurant according to proper preparation methods and standards. Cooks meals based on established recipes and guest requests. Responsible for standard food service work including sanitation duties and various serving responsibilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:NOTE: TraditionsInc. ® may change the requirements of this job description at any time. These include, but are not limited to the following:Embodies Traditions'Mission, Vision, and Core ValuesDevelop and maintain professional functional working relationships with IHOP restaurant employeesObserve and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensilsPortion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to wait staff or food runnersPrepare food according to specifications set forth in the IHOP SOP manualsMemorize and apply all IHOP specialized galley terminology, plating, menu items, procedures, galley utensils, abbreviations and methodologiesWash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumptionWeigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgement, using various kitchen utensils and equipmentMaintain a clean and sanitary work stationSubstitute for or assist other line cooks during emergencies or rush periodsInspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practicesPrepare, to order, all food items following standard recipes and procedures within specified time limits (8-10 minutes at lunch; 10-12 minutes at dinner)Grill, deep fry, bake, broil and microwave raw and prepped foodsMeasure and assemble ingredients and cook items according to recipes and menu specificationsStock/restock items on line according to specificationsWash and clean raw food productsPeeling, dicing, shredding and slicing food products using electric equipment, turn or stir foods to ensure even cookingExplain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methodsComply with equipment maintenance schedulesEstimate ingredients and supplies required to prepare a recipeComply with all federal, state and local regulations as well as with the IHOP Safety Manual and SOP health, sanitation and safety guidelinesComply with IHOP uniform and appearance standards per SOP guidelinesPerform other assignments or tasks as assigned by the General Manager, Assistant Manager or acting supervisorThis position is located within The Chickasaw Nation's Casinos.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:NOTE: These include, but are not limited to the following (additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary):Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in personUniforms and aprons should always be on stage cleanAlways wear safety/slip resistant shoesAlways wear the safety belt when lifting objects over 20lbsCreate and support and environment of Teamwork by helping a fellow employee or guest, without a second thoughtSuperior attendance and punctualityAttendance in mandatory meetings, training, workshops, and/or seminarsAdhere to organization policies and proceduresThis position is located within The Chickasaw Nation's Casinos.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDES EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE):Must be 18 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or equivalent desiredKnowledge of principles and processes for guest and personal services; this includes guest needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of guest satisfactionPerforming for people or dealing directly with the public. This includes serving guests in restaurants and receiving guestsGood oral and written communication skillsAbility to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
