Job Duties: Operate transit vehicles safely and smoothly to transport passengers. D&R operators: According to the schedule of the Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) or printed manifest. Assure compliance to all applicable DOT laws and regulations. Assists in emergency evacuations as assigned and performs other related work as required. Assure cleanliness of vehicles. Follow instructions from Dispatch and supervisory personnel and communicate any problems to dispatch. Complete daily vehicle pre/post trip inspections. Conducts operational vehicle inspections Maintain good customer/employee/supervisor relations. Report for duty promptly in proper uniform and physical condition and be ready to work any route assigned. Provide information to passengers in a helpful, courteous, efficient manner; use proper etiquette to assist passengers with disabilities. Utilize the communication systems (cell phones, radios and MDT’s) in accordance with BTD policies. Job Duties: Answer incoming calls and schedule advance and same day customer trip requests for the entire service area. Route calls to the appropriate party if the call is not for the Call Center. Maintain MDT/cellular communication with vehicle operators concerning customers, i.e. cancellations, no shows, pick-ups, etc. To the maximum extent possible, ensure vehicle operators stay within the DOT guidelines for hours of service. Professionally handle all calls concerning route timing, delays, etc. keeping in mind contractual obligations to various entities. Serve as liaison between vehicle operators and all necessary parties in the event of a vehicle mechanical breakdown or a vehicle incident of any type. Maintain customer/location records daily, and update as needed, verify pick-up and drop off addresses during each scheduling call. Ensure and maintain ADA compliance Be up to date with all BTD Medicaid contract obligations and requirements. Serve as liaison between vehicle operators and emergency personnel in the event of an accident. Check the appropriate website, keep trips updated, and operators/supervisors informed of any changes. Have a pleasant phone manner with a professional manner and properly and calmly respond to problem callers. The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for promoting a positive image of BTD and educating the public about the purpose and services provided. 

Responsible for BTD’s mobile app and social media sites, current and new. Promote BTD in a positive manner on all social media sites. Monitor and maintain these sites on a daily basis. Work with the Deputy CEO/General Manager to ensure BTD’s social media and marketing objectives are met via website, social media platforms, print media, etc. Develop and implement marketing activities that will promote the positive image for BTD as well as public transportation. Create and publish a quarterly BTD newsletter, public notices, news blasts, agency publications, etc. Coordinate advertising and legal notices with various vendors. Create transit related documents and forms including maps, brochures, newspaper ads, etc. and coordinate with various print shops. Assist other departmental efforts to develop materials communicating the implementation of transit service programs and modifications. Coordinate with public agency staff, private consultants, stakeholder outreach teams and professionals in other disciplines for successful project completion. Assist with activities related to transit service planning and scheduling for urban fixed-route and demand/response transit service. Provide administrative support and compliance of federal/state funded grant programs. Provide staff support and coordinate various projects with other departments. Assist Vice President for Marketing and Communications with special projects as needed. Attend local meetings such as city council, commissioner’s court, and other local agency meetings as requested by the President/CEO and Deputy CEO/General Manager. Attend community events, resource fairs and staff the company booth to promote BTD. Analyze potential new products/media to enhance the marketing/communications for BTD. Provide assistance to the Deputy CEO/General Manager regarding communications with the Board of Directors and other duties as requested. Develop and implement marketing activities that will increase ridership. Maintain professional customer/employee/supervisor relations.
