The CT Tech demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy, disease processes and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic sciences, radiation protection, quality assurance, specialized techniques, and adheres to all Corporate Radiation Right policies.Responsibilities of the CT TechnologistConsistently produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from Neonatal to Geriatric age groups.Follow established scanning and viewing protocols.Operate CT scanner (any models) and related equipment efficiently and effectively.Complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organizing and prioritizing work flow to meet STAT and urgent demands while continuing to meet OP customer standards.Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute and challenging patients; possess skills to modify positioning and scanning factors when standard cannot be performed.Demonstrate knowledge of disease processes and produces studies that optimally identify related anatomy. Responsible for the day-to-day clinical, technical and operational functions within the Imaging department. This includes, but is not limited to, the efficient, effective procurement, utilization and stewardship of all technical, physical and human resources. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to care provided to all age groups of patients in area, ranging from neonate to geriatric. Participates in performance improvement activities within the Interventional department and participates in CQI activities. This position requires compliance with all Joint Commission, state, federal, Corporate Radiation Right, and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols. Must possess critical thinking skills and strive to create and maintain great relationships with all facility stakeholders.Responsibilities of the Special Procedures TechnologistAssist with all procedures performed in the Interventional Suite.Demonstrate proficiency with all equipment within the Interventional Suite procedure room including but not limited to: Fluoroscopy, Pan Table, Med Rad injector, Monitors, Ultrasound Unit, Control panels for digital acquisition and image transfer.Demonstrate understanding of supplies used for specified procedureDemonstrate familiarity with Renal, Neuro, Peripheral and Vascular anatomyDemonstrate sterile technique as appropriate and maintain sterile field while performing scrub positionPrepare patient and room for exams while managing wires and other multiple components required for procedure.Perform role of circulator during procedure including: pull supplies, altering technique as phase of exam requires, man and operate injector, communicate to patient family/unit progress, and answer physician calls/pages during procedure.Provide patient care throughout procedure while explaining the procedure to patient and ensure understanding.Ensures patient safety throughout exam.Adhere to Standard Precautions or Isolation precaution appropriate for patient.Performs other assigned duties to ensure optimal department function.Qualifications of the Special Procedures TechnologistEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associate Degree or graduate from an accredited Radiological Technology Program (ARRT)2-years Radiology Tech experience in an acute setting1-2 years’ experience as an Interventional TechnologistLICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with the Texas Medical BoardRegistered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Primary certification in Radiography - ARRT (R) or Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI).
