Unlock your potential at St. David's Medical Center!Job Summary and QualificationsPOSITION SUMMARY:According to unit and hospital policies and procedures, the Cardiology Registered Nurse is responsible for the care of the patient before, during, and after their procedure. The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care for multiple patients on the unit. The RN provides leadership and direct supervision of patient care which is provided by Licensed Vocational Nurses and Patient Care Technicians. The Cardiology Registered Nurse provides superior guest relation skills while maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.Position Details: Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your scheduleCulture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staffContinuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating RoomRounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvementOn-call is required during select non-business hours What you will do in this role: Evaluate patients prior to surgeryProvide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verificationParticipate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policyRecognize and respond to patient emergenciesDeliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiativesBe an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and moreConsistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughlyEducate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measuresWhat qualifications you will need:EDUCATION: Required:Associate Degree in Nursing Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree EXPERIENCE: Required: One-year experience as a staff RN in an acute care setting. Preferred: One-year experience as a staff RN on a critical care, emergency room, or telemetry unit.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Utilize open, professional communication (verbal, non-verbal, and written) to directly interact with physicians, patients, guests, and other health team members.Make decisions of moderate difficulty that reflect both knowledge and good judgement.Handle confidential information regarding patient activities.Demonstrate an effective working knowledge of all equipment used in Day Recovery.Demonstrate competency in dysrhythmia interpretation.Participate in budget control.Work with patients ranging in life span from infant to geriatric.Accepts shift work and takes call as needed.Must be able to demonstrate understanding of HCA’s and St. David’s “Patients First” safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.Recognizes that variables such as age, race, nationality, culture, disease-causing vulnerabilities, socioeconomic factors affect the patient populations under their care as defined in the unit’s provision of care statement.
