Daily Instruments is seeking an AutoCAD Drafter to join our rapidly growing design and production team. The Drafter will be responsible for coordinating onsite work with the sales support team, engineering team, designers, purchasing/requisitions and special project team personnel, as well as working alongside production management staff. The successful Drafter will ensure that projects are completed safely and accurately, and in a timely manner to meet customer and shipping goals.

Job Duties: Manage the project work plan process to ensure accurate and timely completion of production goals Perform Engineering calculations involved with design, drafting or product; and all engineering changes Coordinate with customer specification, needs to ensure all sales and resulting work orders are in compliance with those requirements Strict compliance and enforcement of all ISO, QA, contractual, and client requirements Read and understand technical drawings, schematics Create drawings for customers, Sales Department, Engineering or any other as required. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management duties of the District's rights-of-way.
The Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County, the third most populated county in the United States, with a population in excess of 4.7 million, including the City of Houston, the nation’s fourth largest city. The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county, which consist of approximately 1,500 channels totaling nearly 2,500 miles in length, as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins, totaling more than 10,000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks including Greens bayou.
Essential Functions and Duties: Handle and investigate requests from the County residents, government entities, and internal requests pertaining to the District's infrastructure. Identify channel maintenance repair solutions, costs, priorities, and schedules. Research the District's archived information, property rights, construction plans, historical data and existing right-of-way information. Handle requests for use and obtain rights-of-entry from private landowners to facilitate proposed channel maintenance activities. Prepare correspondence and reports in response to various internal and external letter requests. Monitor, define and direct channel maintenance activities along various channel systems within assigned territory. Provide updates to management on ROW activities, status, issues and provide recommendations. Communicate with the public and various governmental representatives. Provide budgeting information in support of the District’s annual maintenance budget. Obtain County Attorney’s legal opinion on right-of-way issues, if needed. Develop and maintain programs and plans for the maintenance of the District’s drainage facilities. Monitor flooding events and assist in the documentation of such events. Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Position Summary Powell’s products include class-leading vacuum circuit breakers, monitoring, sensing and control electronics, communications and software systems, switchgear, motor control, and safety-focused enclosure systems. One of our three Houston-area manufacturing facilities also includes a prototyping shop and UL-certified high voltage and high current lab, where you will be able to model and validate the performance of your designs in real time. Essential Responsibilities •Propose concepts and develop complex level designs for both existing and new product lines. •Develop innovative designs that meet profit, cost, quality, and time-to-market metrics. •Determine and specify design parameters, validate according to standards, and prepare documentation. •Investigate patentable concepts. •Participate in validation and testing of components/system or assemblies in the development and validation process. •Develop test plans based on Process/Design failure mode and effects analysis (D/PFMEA), project specifications, industry standards, and reliability and validation requirements for both internal and external laboratories. •Participate in laboratory testing, analysis of data, and create corrective action plans. •Ensure project designs meet requirements of specification and standards while promoting error-proof assembly. •Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results, and project activity as required. •Understand and enforce regulatory document requirements. •Interface with outside vendors, consultants, and customers. •Work with third-party vendors to develop high-quality, lowest-cost design options. •Continuously improve engineering processes including, Design for Excellence (DFX) project and product costs, quality, and project lead times. •Collaborate and provide Engineering support to Sales/Product Management and Manufacturing on new products and processes. •Participate in and facilitate the Product Development Process. Minimum Qualifications •Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Power Engineering. •4+ years of progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development on technical and innovative projects. Strong technical knowledge in the following categories per discipline: •Electrical: schematics, wiring, circuit breakers, instrument transformers, distribution systems, power systems (low/medium voltage). •Mechanical: Molded Components or Mechanism Design, castings, and metal fabricated parts. •Working knowledge of electromechanical product design and development. •Working knowledge of switchgear and/or controls. •Experience with medium/high voltage electrical power systems preferred. •Experience creating and reviewing DFMEA and PFMEA process and documents preferred. •Experience developing projects within a Stage-Gate Process.
