Is it in yours This full-time opportunity is in the Microbiology Department of Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) in Austin, Texas. We are seeking an experienced team member to work on first shift (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) and is available to work weekends. In This Role, You Will:Perform high-complexity microbiological testing on clinical specimens such as urine, blood, sputum, wounds, and body fluidsRead and interpret culture media, distinguishing clinically significant pathogens from contaminants or normal floraIdentify microorganisms using manual and automated biochemical methodologiesPerform antibiotic susceptibility testing to determine appropriate treatment optionsAnalyze, review, and report microbiology test results, ensuring timely communication of critical findingsRecognize and troubleshoot issues or unexpected results, implementing corrective actions effectivelyComply with laboratory safety protocols, quality control standards, and regulatory guidelinesWhat We’re Looking For:Bachelor degree or higher in a chemical, biological, or medical science1+ years of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory, and/or certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) in Microbiology or Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent)Strong reading, writing, and analytical skillsProficiency in operating general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarmsA willingness to learn new techniques and technologies, with enthusiasm for continuous professional developmentBonus Points If You Have:Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) in Microbiology or Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent)Hands-on experience in microbiologyClinical laboratory training or experience in high-complexity testingWhat We Offer:Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insuranceA 401(k) plan with company match to support your retirement goalsWork-life balance, including Paid Time Off and Paid HolidaysFree lab services for you and your dependentsOpportunities to grow your career and expand your skillsShift differential (additional pay) for working weekendsAdditional Details:This role involves routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI).
