ResponsibilitiesThe In-House Traveler RN is responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.The successful candidate will be:Committing to an 8 consecutive week assignmentAssigned to a specific unit, but due to fluctuating census, could be pulled to another unitScheduled for a minimum of 36 hours per week or 72 hours per pay period, subject to working weekends during the commitment period (where applicable)Complying with on-call requirements and shifts (where applicable)Complete hospital/nursing/computer orientation and credentialing with minimal unit orientationRequired to work holidays during their agreement periodExpected to work all scheduled shifts as assigned unless cancelled by the Staffing Office, department manager, and/or House SupervisorExpected to participate in all mandatory educationEvaluated by and held accountable for performance based on the standard hospital job descriptions for their respective positionExpected to comply with all BSA Health System policies, procedures, and patient care standardsJob Duties:Record patients' medical information and vital signs.Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit.Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, or childbirth and develop health improvement programs.Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.Conduct specified laboratory tests.Observe nurses and visit patients to ensure proper nursing care.Prepare patients for and assist with examinations or treatments.Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's condition QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school, BSN preferredMinimum of 1 year experience (within the last 2 years) as an RN in a hospital setting in the selected areaCurrent Texas or Multistate RN LicenseCurrent BLS, ACLS and all other required certifications per assigned unit guidelinesHave not been employed by BSA Health System in the preceding six (6) months (excludes contract staff)Permanent address must not be within a 50 mile radius of Amarillo, TXIn-House Travelers acknowledge that this is a temporary employment assignment and are not eligible for benefits except those mandated by law. The In-House Traveler is ineligible for all differentials and critical staffing premiums, including Day of Incentive (DOI).
