The hospitalists are responsible for coordinating care for patients at discharge, and facilitating hand-offs to outpatient physicians. Basic administrative duties may be required from time to time. Participation in hospital committees and leadership is encouraged. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education / Training: • Current licensure by the State of Tennessee as a medical doctor or osteopathic physician. • Current DEA number. • Able to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal interactions, and apply sound administrative principles. • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. The practitioner must be board certified within 5 years of completion of residency or fellowship training. • Current ACLS certification. Equipment and Skills Training: • Communicate effectively with families, patients, and fellow providers • Provide top-quality, compassionate, person-centered care • Function dependently and independently • Partner with all members of the care team • Be flexible in applying medical knowledge to a variety of situations. • Work well under pressure • Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly. Physical Effort: • Able to stand/sit/work for up to twelve hours a day. • Able to lift/move up to 25 lbs. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS • Provides information, education, and support to patient and the patient's family members. Includes the patient and their family in care planning. • Provides information, education, and support to nurses and other staff.
