Both Asheville, NC, and Gatlinburg, TN, are just 50 miles away and Atlanta, GA is 150 miles from Sylva.POSITION SUMMARY:The Ambulatory Infusion Therapy Services RN holds shift accountability to provide direct care to the patients by utilization of the nursing process in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Harris Regional Hospital/Swain Community Hospital. Abides by the standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations. Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education. Delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of other staff.The Registered Nurse renders skilled nursing care to patients in an Out-patient setting according to approved departmental policies. The Ambulatory Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse is charged with performance of ordered procedures, interpretation of data/observations and documenting services rendered. The Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient s requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department s policies and procedures. In times of staff shortage or patient load, the Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse may be called upon to assist with evening Infusion visits.Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process. Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. Provides physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families. Supervises assigned team members. Assists with orienting new employees and students as required.Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS:1. Must fulfill the education requirements of the Registered Nurse and hold an unencumbered/current North Carolina license as a Registered Nurse.2. Infusion Administration, PICC/Midline/Extended Dwell Training required.3. At least two years experience as a Registered Nurse is required. Previous experience in infusion or chemotherapy or preferred.4. Excellent communication skills required.5. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification.6. Current AHA ACLS certification within 1 year of hire and maintain thereafter.7. Current AHA PALS certification within 1 year of hire and maintain thereafter.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.2. Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares.3. Ability to hear and distinguish heart, lung, and bowel sounds.4. Ability to reach overhead.5. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during stressful situations.6. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.7. Ability to move and operate equipment and carry supplies.8. Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.9. Must have a working knowledge of regulatory guidelines and quality standards regarding Ambulatory Infusion based nursing care.
