Provide complex technical care with the use of ultrasound technology for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and provide all necessary documentation and preliminary exam findings.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs basic complete echocardiogram, using safe operation of Ultrasound equipment to ensure high quality for diagnostic scans. Performs, analyzes, and documents results of 2-D, M-Mode, and Doppler echocardiograms as ordered by a physician. Prepares patients for exams, maintains supplies, and equipment. Operates other medical equipment as needed. Seeks opportunity to observe complex procedures. Processes all required paperwork. Obtains all measurements and data according to PHC echo standard protocol. Prepares a preliminary report for review by a cardiologist. Identifies critical findings and notifies appropriate staff prior to patient departure, documents notification. Adjusts equipment settings to optimize study information and image quality Explains procedures to patients to reduce their anxiety and to obtain patient cooperation. Completes annual compliance and competency requirementsQualifications:MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of registry approved ultrasound program, a CAAHEP accredited Cardiac Sonographer program, or equivalent experience according to Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: NoneMINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with RDCS certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) with RCS certification. Must obtain appropriate credential within twelve months of hire date. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association is required. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of related experience as a hospital inpatient or outpatient / ambulatory cardiac sonographer preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES 1.
