Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking full-time Site Medical Director to join our team supporting our Monticello site. Diagnosis and treatment of patients in his/her specialty area; collaboration and supervision of nurse practitioners and physician's assistants; participation in planning and developing health care services in his/her specialties, treatment of conditions and illnesses within the scope of the physician's specialty, referral and follow-up of patients when indicated, participation in after hours coverage to insure 24-hour availability of care for Center patients. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Site Medical Director: Takes histories, performs physical examinations, and prescribes treatment and medication for conditions falling in the scope of his /her specialty following evidence based standard of care.Provides off hours and hospital coverage for Health Center patients where contractually obligated to do so.Designs and participates in quality improvement activities, including Medical Record Peer Review, performance and procedure audits, outcome audits, and focused reviews.Provides supervision for clinical activities of Medical providers and medical documentation in his/her department, including but not limited to review of protocols, telephone triage, follow-up procedures.Coordinates tests, referrals, and care of SRH patients outside the Health Center.Sets standards for preventive care and diagnostic screening within his/her specialty; participates in the development of programs to carry out these standards.Maintains legible and appropriate documentation of medical records.Participates and attends provider meetingsProvides safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity, quality and patient satisfaction standards. Position OverviewWe are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Neurologist to join our healthcare team on a part-time basis. The Neurologist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating neurological conditions, managing complex cases, and providing educational support to patients to improve their health outcomes. This is a part-time position based at our community health centers in the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island, offering an opportunity to serve an underserved population while working in a collaborative environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive neurological evaluations and physical assessments to diagnose neurological conditions, including stroke, epilepsy, dementia, and other neurodegenerative disorders.Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as MRIs, CT scans, EEGs, and other neurological assessments to formulate treatment plans.Prescribe and manage treatment plans, including medications, lifestyle recommendations, and therapeutic interventions.Provide patient education on neurological disorders, including prevention, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.Work closely with primary care teams, behavioral health professionals, and other specialists to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure optimal patient care and safety.Maintain required certifications and licenses, including ABPN Neurology Certification, CPR/BLS-HCP, and active DEA registration.Engage in continuing education and professional development to stay current with advancements in neurology. Minimum Education Requirement Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) with a focus on Neurology.Board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Minimum Work Experience 5-8 years of clinical experience as a Neurologist, preferably within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or a similar healthcare setting. Preferred Work Experience 8+ years of experience in neurology with a proven track record of providing patient-centered care.Experience in treating underserved populations or within community health settings is a plus. Licensure Active and unrestricted license to practice as a Neurologist in the State of New York.Board certification in Neurology by the ABPN.Current CPR/BLS-HCP certification.Active DEA registration.
