L&D RNs monitor the baby’s heart rate and provide immediate care to the newborn. L&D RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform knowledge of phlebotomy, basic IV, and central lines Assess and record maternal vital signs throughout labor and post-partum stages Administer pain medication and other medicines as ordered Educate and support new mothers and families on infant care Shift:3x12 Nights
