We care for patients who have lost functional abilities due to illness or injury. Our unit accepts patients of all ages over the age of 16, but most patients are 65 years and older. The main diagnoses treated on Rehab are strokes, hip fractures, major multiple fractures, brain injuries, complicated joint replacements, debility caused by illness, and many other impairments. Rehab patients are expected to be medically complex enough to need 24/7 nursing but well enough to tolerate 3 hours of physical/occupational/ and speech therapy per day.Some of the procedures performed on the unit include but is not limited to: medication administration, foley placement and care, IV placement and management, PEG tube management, PICC line management, functional scoring, wound care, and occasionally tracheostomy care.Patients are generally on the unit an average of 12 days; therefore, there is an opportunity to bond and get to know patients very well.
