POSITION SUMMARY: Interventional Radiology Technologist is responsible for providing patient services using invasive cardiovascular technology under the direction of a physician, leading to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired organ and vascular disease. # Responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures at a level that does not require constant supervision of technical detail. Photograph specimens with use of appropriatecamera settings and specimen labels.• Performs frozen sections and special studies as needed per laboratory's procedures for specimen handling andprocessing. Assists the pathologist in the preparation, staining and cover skipping of the sample selected forfrozen section analysis. Accessions, bills and labels specimen containers and requisitions in an accurate andefficient manner.• Completes daily assignments in an organized, efficient manner. Oversees activities in frozen section room.Develops, coordinates and provides team support to accomplish day to day activities and tasks. Participates indepartmental and inter-departmental conferences when appropriate.• Describes, dictates, and dissects all categories of surgical specimens in accordance with departmental guidelinesaccurately and efficiently.• Utilizes computer appropriately to accurately enter required information on the Histology log sheet. Showsresourcefulness in finding alternatives in accomplishing work tasks when appropriate.• Recognizes the appropriateness of a test requisition from physician, reference laboratory or consultant.
