Essential Job Summary:: The Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that on-site facility and route activities are compliant with safety, transportation and environmental policies and regulations. Safety Supervisors will report to the Market Area Safety Manager/Director. Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.: Promote and follow safety policies; lead by example to support a strong safety culturePerform safety observations and assessments to ensure all safety practices, programs, record keeping, and other related activities are followed and performed to company, customer and regulatory standards; correct unsafe practices before work continuesConduct site audits to ensure safe, compliant operations; follow up on corrective actionsLead or participate in safety stand-downs and meetings as neededEnsure workers have access and are using proper PPE; carry extra supplies for field needsInvestigate incidents and prepare written reportsAssist with injury care and managementParticipate or lead Incident Review Team meetings; identify root causes and make recommendations for corrective actionsProvide safety, transportation, and SOP training as neededMonitor and manage training records with corporate support; ensure employee complianceEnsure safety signage and warnings are clear, legible, and properly posted. Requirements and Qualifications:: Train CDL drivers in a classroom settingEnsure DOT compliance knowledgeInstruct employees on safe and efficient job performanceCommunicate with operations to report safety trends and recommend corrective actionsValid driver’s license required (CDL required)Strong commitment to safetySatisfactory attendance and performanceBasic computer skills requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office suite3+ years’ experience in job dutiesExtensive knowledge of OSHA and DOT safety requirementsExcellent communication skills, Spanish bilingual requiredExperience in transportation, sanitation/solid waste industry strongly preferred1-2 years of Health & Safety/Transportation Compliance experienceknowledge of federal, state, and local government Health & Safety/ Transportation regulations (including but not limited to: DOT, OSHA, NYC BIC, DSNY, NYDEC/ NJDEP, etc.)Strong analytical and organizational abilities, coupled with the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced work environmentLead or participate in special projects assignedSchedule:Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PMEvening Availability:Occasional night shifts required Additional Information: IWS’s base pay actually offered takes into account a range of factors including, but not limited to, internal equity, the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs.Bonus:This role is bonus eligible as part of the compensation package.Benefits:IWS employees are eligible to participate in our benefits plan.
