Responsible for training associates to perform precision measurement tasks, to analyze measurement deficiencies, and to implement countermeasures to correct measurement deficiencies.Key Accountabilities• Develop CMM programs for inspection, including simulation of program, first piece trial, and performance of repeatability trials and independent comparison for validation.• Develop work instructions for all methods of inspections.• Evaluate results of inspections, including to identify causes of rejects due to erroneous inspection, and follow-through with appropriate corrective actions.• Administer software updates to CMMs and other inspection equipment and execute software validation tests to verify revision changes of software used for product acceptance.• Train other associates in proper measurement techniques, from surface plate layouts to CMM to specific/special measurement equipment.• Perform dimensional inspection layouts using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), height gages, calipers, micrometers, surface roughness and profile measurement equipment, optical comparator, and other conventional inspection tools.• Special projects as directed by managementQualifications, Experience, and SkillsMinimum Educational QualificationsAssociate degree in inspection, or applicable work experienceMinimum ExperienceMinimum of fifteen (15) years of inspection experience with jet engine or equivalent partsMinimum of seven (7) years of experience developing inspection methods and planning for jet engine or equivalent partsOther Job-Specific SkillsProven familiarity and ability to program using Zeiss Calypso, including use of Curve and FreeForm and use of 4th axis rotary tableFamiliarity and ability to program using Zeiss BladePro is preferredFamiliarity and ability to work with Ziess PiWeb database is preferredAdvanced knowledge of GD&T and proven ability to apply GD&T requirements to inspectionExperience with visual inspection and characterization of surface defectsExperience with common gaging such as:calipersmicrometersbore gagesheight gages,etc.Experience with contrace / profile equipmentExperience with projection / comparatorKnowledge of MS Office, with advanced skill level of Word, Excel, and PowerPointUse of prior manufacturing execution systems (such as Solumina), a plusKnowledge of AS9100/FAA quality system requirements, a plusExperience writing procedures, preparing quality plans, work instructions and conducting internal audits a plusAbility to foster teamworkWorking ConditionsClimate-controlled laboratory environment precision measurement.This position routinely requires exposure to the manufacturing areas, all of which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and safety shoes.
