Department/Unit Summary
Monday-Saturday 7am-7pm. There is no Sunday or overnight on call requirement. 36 hours during the week is required. Possible opportunity for overtime
The department is compromised of a dialysis suite adjacent to the ICU. It has 4 bays in the suite as well as 2 isolation rooms. Treatments are completed either in the suite or at the bedside for ICU patients.
The dialysis nurses work closely with the nephrologists to ensure patients receive their necessary dialysis treatments. There is collaboration and open communication between providers and nurses. We have recently purchased Tablo dialysis machines that are user friendly and easy to use.
The staff would also be responsible for working closely with Hiring Manager to ensure supplies are stocked and in date. They also are responsible for cleaning the machines per manufacturer guidelines and following infection prevention standards
Job Summary
Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Reports to ICU Director
Essential Functions
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatment, as well as other medical care treatment
Documents patient care given
Monitor, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances
Works as advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient

Qualifications:
Qualifications and requirements
Minium Education
Graduate from a program of professional nursing required.
Bachelor's degree preferred
Minium Work Experience
Previous dialysis experience is preferred but not required.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including week-ends and holiday to insure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS)
American Heart Association (AHA) required
Licenses
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or compact state required
