The Area Director of Sales and Catering (ADOSC) is responsible for exceeding revenue targets, managing and growing client relationships and exceeding guest satisfaction goals. The ADOSC sets the revenue generating strategies for the assigned lodges and leads the sales teams focused on driving room, banquet, birthday and meeting space revenue.RESPONSIBILITIES:For assigned lodges, the ADOSC has overall Leverages lodge sales teams to execute on sales strategies to meet financial targetsMeets assigned financial objectives that maximize profitability for the lodgesStrategically targets group room revenue on lower occupancy dates, enabling higher contribution to overall profitabilityProactively drives meeting space utilization, achieving targeted growth in catering revenue per square foot of meeting spacePrepares annual performance budgets, schedules expenditures, forecasts revenues and analyzes variancesAccomplishes sales objectives by recruiting, selecting, training, coaching, and leading sales pack membersDevelops strong relationships with local and regional industry trade groups, Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and key business leaders; serves as expert on the local/regional market dynamicsWorks closely with sales pack members on development of weekly, monthly and quarterly sales action plans; monitors and reviews plans to ensure meeting of revenue and guest satisfaction objectivesLeads the implementation of relevant lodge and line of business policies and procedures and regularly monitors to ensure complianceDevelops annual sales targets by market segment and assigns to sales pack membersMonitors competitive and market trends including pricing, regional events, competition properties and demand expectations and adjusts strategies where needed to win market shareAccomplishes sales objectives by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating field sales action plansBuilds and maintains rapport with key accounts by making periodic visits, exploring specific needs and anticipating new opportunitiesMonitors group quality survey results and leads the response according to stated policy and service level requirements; leads corrective action to prevent future issues from arisingSupports local marketing efforts and recommends marketing investments to support community relations and group businessAttends local and regional trade show events where appropriate to cultivate new sales leadsSupports overall lodge success and demonstrates “We are one Pack” mindset by proactively engaging with guests and pack members when on propertyServes as member of DOSC line of business leadership team; shares best practices with other DOSC and national sales leadership; supports national initiatives wherever neededMaintains visible presence at each assigned property with at least 60% of working time spent in the field (remainder can be managed remotely)REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSBachelor's degree in Sales, Communications, Marketing, Business or Hotel ManagementMinimum 5 years of experience in sales, event planning, and/or cateringMinimum 3 year supervisory/leadership experience in hospitality fieldExperience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) softwareDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteSuccessful completion of criminal background check and drug screenSuccessful completion of Department of Motor Vehicle checkProfessional communication skills both verbal and writtenMust be located in close proximity to one of the assigned lodges, and is expected to make at least two trips per month to other assigned lodge(s)DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & TRAITSProficiency in hotel Sales & Catering Systems, preferable Delphi and/or OperaExperience in regional leadership role within hospitalityExperience at multiple Great Wolf propertiesSignificant customer service experienceStrong problem solving and organizational skillsAttention to detail and ability to exceed quality standardsEnthusiastic and positive energyMulti-tasking abilityPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAble to lift up to 20 lbsAble to bend, stretch, and twistAble to stand or sit for long periods of timeEstimated Salary Range:$120,000- $135,000 annual base salaryAn employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of Great Wolf’s total compensation package.
