The RN assumes accountability for the delivery of direct and indirect patient-centered nursing care for the patients assigned to the RN for a specified period of time. Following a competency based formal orientation, competent performance is expected. The RN must understand and use the nursing process. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing in Minnesota. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Required certifications on hire or within six months may include: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Interviews potential residents and assesses residents in compliance with regulations, policy and procedure. Uses assessment information for admission and continued stay in the hospice community. Establishes a service plan for each resident and evaluates on an on-going basis. Ability to communicate with patients/residents, family members and others on the health care team. Must demonstrate independence, assertiveness and critical thinking when working with patients and co-workers. Ability to document clearly. Ability to solve problems. Self-motivated. Works with little direction. Ability to incorporate teaching/learning principles and adapt teaching to age group. Ability to facilitate groups and implement projects when necessary.
