Job SummaryAn experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and integrated care team member who leverages technology to collaborate with and support the needs of the bedside RN and the patient/family virtually. Two-way audio/visual technology provides the virtual nurse the ability to assist with admission and discharge activities, patient and family education, real-time patient quality and safety surveillance, proactive rounding, and staff mentoring/education. Documents and communicates collaboratively with the bedside nurse regarding the patient condition and all nursing care provided. Supports the bedside nurse in ensuring appropriate information is relayed to the physician and multidisciplinary team.Collaborates with the bedside nurse to initiate, update, evaluate, and revise the plan of care to facilitate the achievement of patient goals and expected outcomes.Assists with identification of safety concerns and ensures findings are reported to the bedside nurse. Coordinates and collaborates with the bedside nurse on methods to mitigate safety concerns.Collaborates with the bedside nurse to complete the patient learning needs assessment and provides patient and family education based on the assessment. Promotes optimum communication by answering patient/family questions, providing plan of care updates, and facilitating family meetings as needed. 3Dis a 22 bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospitalthat specializes in the care of patients admitted with complex medical diagnoses as well as general surgery patients. Nurses are often drawn to 3D for the variety of patients and skills utilized. Our nurses become competent in caring for a large array of both medical patients and the occasional surgical patients. Specifically, our team isknown as being experts innasogastric tubes,urinary catheters,managing tube feeding,and managingthe care of wounds. Some of the patient types we routinely see are respiratory illnesses, acute kidney injuries, diabetic care, septic shock, GI bleed and other acute GI illnesses, sickle cell crisis, pancreatitis and psychiatric care. In this role you will be instrumental in the care of general neurology and neurosurgical patients. Our neurosurgical patients are highly complex. We care for spine surgery patients, patients who have undergone craniotomy and craniectomy for brain tumor resection, removal or debulking and elective aneurysm interventions. Corewell Health is offering up to $10,000 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity!About the unit3D is a 22 bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital that specializes in the care of patients admitted with complex medical diagnoses as well as a primary stroke center. Staff are often drawn to 3D for the variety of patients and skills utilized. Our team members become competent in caring for a large array of both medical patients and the occasional surgical patients. Specifically, our team is known as being experts in stroke care, sickle cell care, managing tube feedings, and the care of wounds. Some of the patient types we routinely see are respiratory illnesses, acute kidney injuries, diabetic care, septic shock, GI bleed and other acute GI illnesses, sickle cell crisis, pancreatitis, and psychiatric care. The teamwork is strong on our team as we work collectively to provide care.
