The unit has a focus on surgical conditions including urology procedures, major and minor abdominal surgeries, ENT, bariatric and pulmonary surgeries, peripheral vascular procedures as well as other general surgical post-op needs. The unit has 8 telemetry beds for patients requiring cardiac monitoring. Scope of workThe hospital based Wound Clinician serves as a clinical resource and consultant for the acute care of patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. The care extends to those with acute and chronic wounds (for example, complex draining wounds, fistulae, pressure injury, vascular ulcers), ostomies, percutaneous tubes, and continence disorders. Some specific diagnoses’ are total knee, total hip, spinal fusions, and fractured hips. We are Stroke and Trauma certified and complete additional education every three months to better care for this population of patients.
