About the unit2 East is a 16 bed Observation Unit consisting of patients that are expected to stay in the hospital for less than 24 hours. Patients are often awaiting testing or results that will determine if they are able to go home or need to be admitted to another unit. The unit has a growing unit council to help with shared governance decision making. About the unit4CN is a twelve-bed unit that provides care for a diverse patient population including, but not limited to, respiratory, cardiac, and neuro illnesses. 4CN has the capacity to care for patients with ventilators. Nurses on this unit are teamwork oriented and have excellent support staff which include nursing assistants, nurse technicians and clinical assistants. 4CN receives patients directly from the MICU. 4CN team includes 24 hr NP coverage for mentoring and clinical support.4CN is a sister unit to 3CN/5CN Intermediate Surgical Unit offers a dynamic patient care experience. 3 CN is a ten-bed unit thatspecializes in general surgery, vascular, and thoracic patients. About this unit 6NE is a Progressive Care unit where RN’s have the opportunity to be trained to work with more critically ill patients than on a general Med Surg unit. About the unit3 East SICU is a general surgery floor and we typically take all general surgery patients, vascular, thoracic, and non-neuro trauma’s. A unique patient population that is specific to 3 East only is our Transplant, high risk OB, post-partem, and our ECMO Patients. Corewell Health-WBUH specializes in Kidney and Liver Transplant and 3 East is the first unit they come to after surgery. 3 East is also the only unit that receives ECMO patients throughout the whole Hospital System. About the unitCPCU, 8NE, is a 68-bed unit cardiac step-down unit that provides an intermediate level of care to patients that typically have a cardiac related diagnosis such as coronary artery disease (CAD), congestive heart failure (CHF), myocardial infarction (MI) and heart arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (A-fib) and ventricular tachycardia (V-Tach). We also provide pre and post procedure care to patients that have undergone cardiac procedures, such as catheterization/angioplasty, stents, ablations, and placement of pacemakers, and defibrillators. Our nurses receive specialized training in arterial sheath removal and Tikosyn administration and are ACLS certified. About the unitThis unit is a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care unit. This unit’s primary specialty is post-open heart/CABG patients. Post-op CABG patients will recover in the ICU for 2-3 days. The patient population will include cardiac procedure requiring ICU level care, open-heart patients direct from the OR, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, TAVR procedure, and STEMI intervention. RNs will care for patients requiring ventilator support, SWAN-GANZ catheters, vasopressors, inotrope drips, high alert drips, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), IMPELLA devices, and chest tubes. About the unit2 East is a Surgical Critical Care Unit, specializing in cardiovascular surgical interventions. We also provide care to patients requiring general surgical interventions. Our nurses possess skills that allow them to demonstrate immense critical thinking and physical assessment skills which sets them apart as they continually manage acutely ill patients. Utilizing the most up to date technology and supplies, the lab performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, while specializing in high risk angioplasty with the use of heart support devices. In addition, we specialize in chronic total occlusions and structural heart procedures with in-lab TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement). The lab also performs numerous pacemaker implants, generator changes, loop recorder insertions, transesophageal echo and cardioversion procedures.Scope of WorkThe Cath Lab Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Cath Lab Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Beaumont policies and procedures. Working within a multi-disciplinary team environment demonstrates specialized care within the cath lab and across the cath lab care continuum (Pre/Intra/Post Lab) while using critical thinking and excellent communication.QualificationsAssociates in Nursing RequiredBachelors in Nursing Required within 5 yearsGraduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.MI Registered Nurse (RN) RequiredAHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 daysAHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 monthsSpecialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years1 year of experience as an RN in the ICU Preferred1 year of relevant experience Minimum of one (1) year acute care experience.
