About the unit4CN is a twelve-bed unit that provides care for a diverse patient population including, but not limited to, respiratory, cardiac, and neuro illnesses. 4CN has the capacity to care for patients with ventilators. Nurses on this unit are teamwork oriented and have excellent support staff which include nursing assistants, nurse technicians and clinical assistants. 4CN receives patients directly from the MICU. 4CN team includes 24 hr NP coverage for mentoring and clinical support.4CN is a sister unit to 3CN/5CN Intermediate Surgical Unit offers a dynamic patient care experience. 3 CN is a ten-bed unit thatspecializes in general surgery, vascular, and thoracic patients. About the unitCPCU, 8NE, is a 68-bed unit cardiac step-down unit that provides an intermediate level of care to patients that typically have a cardiac related diagnosis such as coronary artery disease (CAD), congestive heart failure (CHF), myocardial infarction (MI) and heart arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (A-fib) and ventricular tachycardia (V-Tach). Post-op CABG patients will recover in the ICU for 2-3 days. The lab also performs numerous pacemaker implants, generator changes, loop recorder insertions, transesophageal echo and cardioversion procedures.Scope of WorkThe Cath Lab Nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Cath Lab Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Beaumont policies and procedures. Working within a multi-disciplinary team environment demonstrates specialized care within the cath lab and across the cath lab care continuum (Pre/Intra/Post Lab) while using critical thinking and excellent communication.QualificationsAssociates in Nursing RequiredBachelors in Nursing Required within 5 yearsGraduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.MI Registered Nurse (RN) RequiredAHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 daysAHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 6 monthsSpecialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years1 year of experience as an RN in the ICU Preferred1 year of relevant experience Minimum of one (1) year acute care experience.
