Corewell Health is offering up to $10,000 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity! Weekend Option Program:Weekend RNs/LPNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year.Weekends are defined as Saturday and Sunday for day shift and Friday and Saturday night for night shift.RNs/LPNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours ‘off’ of the weekend requirement. Corewell Health is offering up to $10,000 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity!Weekend Option Program:Weekend RNs/LPNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year.Weekends are defined as Saturday and Sunday for day shift and Friday and Saturday night for night shift.RNs/LPNs can request up to 48 hours of PTO on their weekend shifts as well as 48 hours of exchanging a weekend shift for a weekday shift, for a total of 96 hours ‘off’ of the weekend requirement. Job DescriptionAbout the teamThe Corewell Health (CH) West Helen Devos Childrens Hospital (HDVCH) Vascular Access Team (VAT) is a program of registered nurses specially trained in the ultrasound guidance insertion of vascular access devices. The team utilizes the Infusion Nurse’s Society (INS), Michigan Appropriateness Guide to Intravenous Catheters (MAGIC), and mini-MAGIC for the pediatric population as evidence-based practice standards to determine the most appropriate access for each patient. The HDVCH VAT inserts bedside anatomical IVs and ultrasound guided peripheral IVs (PIV) for inpatients and outpatients at HDVCH. They are a dedicated resource within HDVCH for PIV insertions and an advocate for needle pain reduction and adherence to poke plans. Additionally, they round daily on central venous catheters to help reduce the incidence of infection, provide education, and serve as an expert level resource for all types of IV access. As a team member on 2 South, you will see a wide variety of patients. About the unit7 South is a 22 bed Progressive Neuroscience unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of stroke and adult epilepsy patients. As an accredited comprehensive stroke center, we have the ability to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases. Additionally, our epilepsy program performs a range of EEG monitoring from routine up to surgical implantation. Although this is a specialized unit, there is still a lot to learn due to the variety of conditions patients can have in addition to their stroke. Teamwork on this unit is known to be exceptional. About the Unit: The Prince Surgical Critical Care Unit is a 22-bed intensive care unit in the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. The surgical ICU specializes in the care of critically ill trauma and surgical patients. The trauma population includes geriatric rib fractures, traumatic brain injury, multi-trauma requiring critical care needs, and the critical care adult burn population. The surgical population includes trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, and vascular surgery with critical care needs. Nurses in the surgical ICU also provide care to medical and neuro critically ill patients. Our nurses are competent in the care of patients requiring ventilator support, life-sustaining titratable medications including cardiac and sedation medications and assist with procedures such as bedside tracheostomies and central line placement. With experience and competence surgical ICU nurses can become specialty trained to care for patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy as well as manage the care of critically ill burn patients. Nurses working in the surgical ICU gain detailed assessment skills, critical thinking behaviors, as well as developing communication skills while working in a dynamic environment. The surgical ICU is a fast-paced unit that relies on teamwork and an interdisciplinary approach with not only provider teams, but ancillary staff to deliver excellent and effective care. RN’s will have the opportunity to provide care to the critical patient on ventilators, provide titration of life-sustaining medication, cardiac and sedation medication. About the unit5 South is a 30 bed Oncology unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of those with oncology diagnoses and a surgical population of head and neck cancers. Running central lines, administering chemotherapy treatments, and providing oncology education to its patients. Longer stays for patients on this unit are common, giving the team at 5 South the chance to build relationships with the patient and their family. Although this is a specialized unit there is still much to learn due to the variety in patient conditions in addition to their cancer. About the unit5 West is a smaller unit comprised of 25 beds at Butterworth Hospital supporting our Emergency Department. 5W is a fast paced unit caring for a wide range of patient population. This brings a lot of variety to the patients you will care for and provides the ability to strengthen your critical thinking skills and be part of a dynamic team providing excellent patient care to those needing further testing and observation of symptoms. Types of patients with: Chest Pain, Heart Failure, Kidney Stones, Psychiatric Diagnosis, GI, Orthopedic, and Neuro for both Acute and Chronic Illness Patients.
