About the unit4 South is a 35 bed Progressive Care Unit. Our unit is a fast-paced, encouraging environment. We provide care for a wide range of patient needs, such as stroke, cardiac, and thoracic patients, to name a few. We assess patient’s NIHSS scale and provide treatment and education per protocol and treat Cardiac issues that may arise during their stay with medications and procedures. We do vital signs every four hours and hourly rounding on every patient. About the unit3 East SICU is a general surgery floor and we typically take all general surgery patients, vascular, thoracic, and non-neuro trauma’s. A unique patient population that is specific to 3 East only is our Transplant, high risk OB, post-partem, and our ECMO Patients. Corewell Health-WBUH specializes in Kidney and Liver Transplant and 3 East is the first unit they come to after surgery. 3 East is also the only unit that receives ECMO patients throughout the whole Hospital System. About the unit6 North is a 32-bed surgical floor that offers a great learning environment fostered by our team of exceptional nurses. 6 North offers experiences that are normally not found in Med-Surg clinical rotation. About the UnitA Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Medicaid unit that has residents with multiple clinical issues including CHF, dehydration, cellulites, diabetes, DVT, and stable cardiac related issues needing monitoring. About the unitThis unit is a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care unit. This unit’s primary specialty is post-open heart/CABG patients. Post-op CABG patients will recover in the ICU for 2-3 days. The patient population will include cardiac procedure requiring ICU level care, open-heart patients direct from the OR, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, TAVR procedure, and STEMI intervention. RNs will care for patients requiring ventilator support, SWAN-GANZ catheters, vasopressors, inotrope drips, high alert drips, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), IMPELLA devices, and chest tubes. About the unit2 East is a Surgical Critical Care Unit, specializing in cardiovascular surgical interventions. We also provide care to patients requiring general surgical interventions. Our nurses possess skills that allow them to demonstrate immense critical thinking and physical assessment skills which sets them apart as they continually manage acutely ill patients. The unit staff is comprised of RNs (registered nurses), NTs (nurse technicians) and CAs (clinical assistants). It is led by a Clinical Nurse Manager, an Associate Clinical Manager on the off-shift, and a Nurse in Professional Development Specialist.
