Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Experience:
• 12 months of role experience is required from last 3 months.
• 24 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience is required from last 3 months.
• Travel experience is required from any number of months.
• 3 months of experience with Cerner is preferred from any number of months.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Maine license or compact license (required for submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >100 miles from facility to be submitted.• Flu vaccination required for submission. Medical declinations accepted.

Housing in ME becomes more expensive in the summer months, beginning in May. Be sure to confirm you are comfortable with housing options before applying.
Roles requiring state licensure only: License should not expire within 45 days following start date
Travel Pairs: If you are in a relationship, EMMC will not schedule you on the same days. If you are not in a relationship, you can be scheduled for the same days if not on the same shift/unit. Managers will not guarantee the same schedule for travel pairs.
Patient Types:
Bariatric: Gastric Bypass, Gastric sleeve
Vascular Surgeries: carotid endarterectomies, femoral endarterectomies, amputations, AAA repair, peripheral artery bypass grafts, fem-pop bypass
Urology: TURP, cysto, cystectomy, penectomy, nephrectomy, ureteral stents
General/GI: mastectomy, breast reduction; hemicolectomies, exploratory laps, bowel resection, cholecystectomy, colorectal surgeries; whipples
Ortho: total joint, ORIF, external fixation, Ortho Trauma
ENT: parotidectomy, neck dissection, and thyroidectomy
Plastics: muscle flaps, skin grafts
Neurosurgery: spinal fusions, laminectomies, craniotomies
Medical Overflow:
CHF, Pneumonia, COVID, COPD, sepsis, cellulitis, GI Bleed, Chron’s, Vascular Gangrene, ETOH withdrawal, IVDA, etc.
All beds have remote Telemetry monitoring capabilities
Skills required:
Telemetry experience (Cardiac rhythm interpretation) – will not transport patient on Tele but must be able to verify/interpret strips on the unit
General post-surgical experience is a MUST
Vascular surgical patients comprise a large portion of our patient population. This person would need to have the basic knowledge of what to look at and for (assessment-wise) with this type of patient.
Ortho post-op (total joints, ORIF) experience is preferred,
peripheral IV starts, tube feedings, TPN, Trach Care, Chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, drain management and removal (JP, Accordian), dressing changes, wound vacs
Comfortability to discontinue non-tunneled catheters, will wean patients off Epidural pump per order set, PCAs
Heparin Drips, Insulin Drips; No cardiac drips or cardiac push meds
Floating: Any other unit to care for patients within or below scope of practice
Orientation: 2 Days of hospital orientation, 1 (12)h shift on unit
Weekend rotation: every other; occasionally back-to-back weekends – flexibility is key
No call
Holiday Expectations: manager approval
RTO approval: Must be sent to Manager for approval
Schedule cycle: 4 weeks at a time; will receive 2 weeks in advance
Scrub Color: Any color, must be professional
Basic EKG certification (ability to read/interpret cardiac rhythm strips)
2 references from last 12 months (Manager/Supervisor reference type) - required for submission
Driver’s license required for submission
