Summary Registered Nurse – High Intensity Care Unit (HICU)Location: Levindale Hospital (LifeBridge Health) – Baltimore, MDUnit Type: High Intensity Care Unit (20 semi-private rooms; up to 40 patients)Reports To: Nurse Manager, HICUShift: Full-time (Day or Night and weekend commitment; 12-hr shifts)Sign on Bonus:Up to 10K Depending on experience UNIT SUMMARYThe High Intensity Care Unit (HICU) at Levindale is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, featuring 20 semi-private rooms that accommodate up to 40 patients. Our multidisciplinary team specializes in caring for patients with complex needsranging from acute brain injuries and respiratory failure to post-acute rehabilitation and specialized monitoring.Leveraging evidence-based critical care standards, staff perform frequent and comprehensive patient assessments using advanced monitoring technology and interventions. HICU nurses collaborate closely with respiratory therapists, physicians, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, social workers, and dietitians to develop and implement individualized care plans in real time.Our team thrives in a culture of continuous learning, strong organization, and positive communicationresponding swiftly to symptom changes, deploying clinical interventions, preventing complications (such as delirium), and optimizing outcomes through structured protocols and family-centered care. Job SummaryAs an HICU Registered Nurse, you will deliver safe, age-appropriate nursing care, support patients and families, and contribute as a key member of the interdisciplinary care team under the guidance of the Nurse Manager. Key ResponsibilitiesOperate advanced monitoring and life-support equipment (e.g., ventilators, telemetry, IV pumps).Provide patient/family education and act as a resource on care processes and goals of therapy.Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and contribute to teamwork and staff development. QualificationsEducation:Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required (or equivalent).Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from CCNE-accredited school preferred.Experience:1–3 years (up to 5 years) of critical care/ICU nursing experience required.Now accepting New RN GraduatesLicensure & Certification:Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license.American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.ACLS certification within 1 year of hire.Skills & Attributes:Strong organization, critical thinking, communication, and team collaboration.Ability to thrive in high-intensity, fast-paced environments.
