Mechanical Maintenance TechnicianPRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONThe position will be within the Mobile Turbine/Rotating Department and is responsible for performing all general mechanical maintenance on power plant equipment. The Mobile Turbine/Rotating team supports a culture of continuous improvement by participating in training, reinforcing standards, reporting, and mitigating unsafe or undesirable conditions, and utilizing the corrective action program. This position regularly requires 80% travel.PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESPerform maintenance and repair work on plant equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, fans, turbines, bearings, boilers, pipe systems, valves and limit torque operators. (disassembly, part repair or replacement, assembly) using sound technical decisions regarding maintenance on complex mechanical equipmentDemonstrates strong maintenance skill on steam or gas turbines, turbine valves, reactor feed pump turbines (RFPT), terry turbines, various pumps, balance of plan (BOP) equipment in a safe and reliable manor using the correct tools, equipment such as rigging, fork trucks and cranesPerform assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner at the direction of Maintenance Management.Ability to work on cross-functional teams on major projects while adhering to the conduct of maintenance and established maintenance standards and practicesPerform alignment on Rotating equipment. Perform fitting and welding tasks when qualified.Execute work package when assigned to the level of training received.Use, review and recommend revisions to procedures, prints, technical manuals and other documents as required to the level of training received.Provide technical support to plant operations, maintenance staff and engineering to the level of training received.Interpret and understand power plant prints.Perform verification checks on maintenance items covered in maintenance technician training.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAssociates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology OR 3 to 5 years' experience in Maintenance Tech I or equivalent years of experience with trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology or relevant field experienceSuccessfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position including previously passing the MASS testAcquire and maintain unescorted access to Nuclear facilitiesValid driver's license and access to an insured vehicleAbility to lift a minimum of 50 poundsAbility to work in a power plant environment that includes climbing and walking long distancesExposed to heat with reduced stay times, dust, smoke, dirt, high noise areas, confined and cramped work areas, and a nuclear power plant environment including Radiation Dose Exposure.Works at high elevations on ladders and scaffolds.Works shift work or weekends as required.
