The Vascular Access Service at Boston Children’s Hospital provides vascular access care to patients and families across the lifespan. This program places 14,000 PIVCs and 800 PICCs annually throughout the enterprise, including critical care, emergency department, inpatient units, procedural areas, and ambulatory care settings. Phase 1 of orientation includes 12 weeks of training on PIVC Insertion, phlebotomy, dressing changes, and management of vascular access device complications. Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Complex Care ServicesDepartment SummaryNurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to function in the inpatient Complex Care Service (CCS) at Boston Children’s Hospital. CCS is a long-standing and nationally-regarded inpatient service in Pediatric Hospital Medicine within the Division of General Pediatrics that serves hospitalized children with medical complexity, who have complex chronic conditions and functional limitations. Common reasons for admission to CCS include infections (aspiration pneumonia, pyelonephritis), chronic condition exacerbations (epilepsy, digestive dysmotility), and post-operative recovery following surgery (baclofen pump placement, gastrostomy, spinal fusion, etc.). This role will provide patient evaluation, assessment, and facilitate care for the patients on the CCS service, and will implement interventions tailored to improve systems for patient care and enhance patient safety for this population. The CCS NP/PA will work collaboratively with supervising physicians, pediatric trainees (residents and fellows), and the entire nursing team to promote optimal clinical care.
